Hi everyone, I found US a few weeks ago (after watching the wonderful Mr Warlow in Phantom in Auckland) and wanted to at least register so I could say thank you so much for the tip in someone's post, about where to get hold of the Snow Goose CD. You're all so dedicated, I'm very impressed I had my chance to say hello to the lovely man myself, an hour or so before the final Auckland show when he walked right past me on the street, but I was overcome with crippling shyness and couldn't bring myself to do anything but stare in wonder. Anyway, thank you all, great website!

Welcome to the fun farmgirlnz, I too was overcome with shyness but after a few minutes of Ant doing all the talking he made me feel comfortable that I just started to feel at ease( while my legs were turning into jelly), and lucky for me my beautiful husband was with me and he took a photo of Ant and myself. I just had to add that bit, hubby was reading as i was typing ;D Enjoy the madness.

Thanks Poppy I read about your meeting with him, that's so lovely. It seems hard to think he'd be anything other than a complete darling, but I just couldn't bring myself to step forward. And it's strange, because normally I have no problem with being confident etc. But this was Mr Warlow. Crikey.

Welcome to Unexpected Song farmgirlnz! ^)_^ Sorry I didn't reply to you when you were online, I'm always surfing on various channels. MSN being one of them.
He's a darling ... he's also a devil. Not to scare you but sometimes you've got to be careful what you say to him ((and on here *COUGH!*)) because he can twist it right back and make you feel flushed.
Amusingly, but still flushed.

Hi farmgirlnz! This recent mini-influx of NZers is awesome Welcome to the site, and I hope you stick around. It's always nice to see more people from the same neck of the woods (not that I don't love you Aussies ) You were at the last show - did the Santa Parade give you any trouble??? *muttersunderbreath* ETA: I have to second what Marie-Cris just said. He does have a tendency to make one feel a bit flustered, with the very best of intentions of course ;D

No worries Marie-Cris I too was zooming between your website and a farming forum that I belong to (I have eclectic tastes). I think I missed my chance, not saying hello at the time - I don't think he'll be back in NZ for a while, if ever, and sadly getting to see him in concert costs a lot more for us Kiwis. I would love to come and see the Mikado with you all, but it's on at my busiest time of year work-wise, plus the budget is pretty tight. The final show here in Auckland was great, and he was so cute (naturally!). He managed to keep himself together when a whole group of women in the front row screamed quite loudly when he appeared overhead in the angel; he kept singing despite slightly winding himself as he crawled across the floor to get the mask back off Christine (there was this gentle "ooooffff" as he hit the deck); and when the cast did their curtain calls, he was wearing a beautiful Phantom mask of a kind I haven't seen before in any other version;D Oh, and there was a blooper with a ball on stage in the first show I saw (no idea where it came from!) and something happened to Christine and Raoul at the end of All I Ask of You - they tried to kiss but instead just giggled themselves silly. Yes, huge problems with the darn Santa Parade. I live quite a long way away, so got there at lunchtime, just about died of heat stroke, and was walking up a hill (not pretty) to find a tree to sit under when Mr Warlow walked past me. Sigh.

Heh ... Any guesses as to who that group of women could be? Ah, the glitter mask. Gotta love it. He wears that only on the last show of each city season and we've taken to doing the same during curtain call as a salute.

Oh my goodness, was that fellow US members? ;D I did wonder after reading posts on here, and then thought, no, it couldn't be. How hilarious! I was sitting a few rows back and I don't know if they could see it but I could see his eyes raise up.
I've seen Phantom with Michael Crawford (in case you haven't guessed, I suspect I'm quite ancient compared to the rest of you!) and with Rob Guest, but Anthony .. he's perfect.
Let's put it this way, it's the first time I've seen Phantom and thought "cor blimey, what the heck is Christine mucking around with wimpy old Raoul" ;D
Love the Dictionary by the way. Brilliant!

Thank you rogue. A few people seem to be under the impression that I was there.
I've never been to New Zealand in my life.
I think someone who actually WAS there can verify who they were. I actually don't know what seats they had.

Lucky all my bad memories of that Santa Parade are mostly drowned out by the good ones of LAS ;D
I'm curious, what happened with the ball at your first show? Christine and Raoul giggling themselves silly at the end of AIAOY sounds cute ^^

Wait...you all *screamed* when he appeared on the arch? !!!! *and yes I know that didn't include you Mar No, they screamed when he appeared on the angel above us (he was right above their heads). It's also the first time I've been to a Phantom where they clapped every time he finished singing. Naturally, I joined in! I was sitting surrounded by people who had never seen Phantom, including some friends of Andrea Creighton's (they remember her singing for the local theatre club when she was a teenager) and none of them noticed anything amiss, it was all little things, but noticeable for an "old timer" like me. Lucky all my bad memories of that Santa Parade are mostly drowned out by the good ones of LAS ;D I'm curious, what happened with the ball at your first show? Christine and Raoul giggling themselves silly at the end of AIAOY sounds cute ^^ I too forgot about the parade, the heat stroke and the very costly parking (ouch ) - nothing was going to stop me enjoying every second. The ball thing was weird. We (family, friends who went in a group) saw it two weeks beforehand. I can't remember what scene it was but Christine was standing on the right hand side of the stage and my uncle (who had never seen the show) whispered "why is there a ball there?", thinking it was going to explode or something. It was at her feet, then it rolled to the side of the stage, then it sat there for the rest of the scene. I'm pretty sure it wasn't part of the set (it was about the size of a softball) as it was way too close to the edge and it was moving when Christine/Ana moved her dress. It was very strange! Then Anthony started singing and I didn't look again to see where it went, I was too preoccupied ;D Oh heck, I've just double posted haven't I? Cripes, I'm sorry about that, I won't do it again

I always like random bloopers like that (as long as they don't kill the flow of the show too much). Sounds like that ball had a life of it's own. So, the size of a softball and moving with Ana's dress - perhaps a big ball of string got stuck to her? ;D Your uncle thinking it was going to explode is pretty funny as well ^^

Hehe, at least you figured it out before someone had to tell you Thank you to whoever fixed my post, I'm very sorry. I type faster than I think And please don't apologise Marie-Cris, it was me being a dope! Your instructions are clear, I think it's just it's quite late here and I have been working from home - I really should be concentrating on doing one thing at a time Yes, I had told my Uncle to search the stage for Phantom, that he would "appear" from the oddest places, and he started looking everywhere ;D and being suspicious of everything ;D Re the ball, I too wondered if it was attached to her dress but it rolled away far enough that if it had been string/thread, I think I would have seen it, and it was quite large and round - too big and solid, I think, to be any kind of detailing off her dress. I was reading a website about bloopers during Phantom performances around the world, and it turns out what I saw was pretty minor compared to some things that have happened during live shows. When I first saw Phantom ( many moons ago) "Red Death" disappeared off stage by going through a trapdoor - it was brilliant, it really did look like he'd just vanished. However, after several Phantom's broke their legs/ankles (!!!) doing this stunt, they now run off stage under a black cape - you can see Anthony doing a similar trick while in rehearsal, in that Ray Martin interview on his comeback as Phantom.

That's all right, so long as you keep an eye on it in the future ... don't make me bring out Mr. Whippy! About the ball ... did it have a ferret attached to it? Yeah, you can catch Ant running off stage if you know where to look. Plus when you watch him and Ana or Julie leave after Point of No Return you can catch him pull a face at the audience.

Wait...you all *screamed* when he appeared on the arch? !!!! *and yes I know that didn't include you Mar No, no we did not. We're not that mental! During one of the shows, someone also screamed when Roy appeared in the pit. He nearly cracked up and had to avert his gaze to keep in check. Unfortunately, he turned in our direction and we were all stifling laughter too. He couldn't help himself then.
