If you had a beef with the girliest man up there, surely Grosvenor... *mumbles*
This is only happening because I'm vocal about my favourites (though I doubt any of you would be so cruel if I started waving my *iluverik* banner too.)

As much as I like to stir you up Unwinding, it's not personal.
Though Jekyll gets great songs, he is just so self absorbed with his quest, he does not notice how he hurts people and then when people start dying - he cares more that he may lose his reputation rather than the lives he as afffected.
Besides, can't pick on Archibald. Those legs in pink tights are to die for.....and I don't think anyone wants to pick on Erik. One is never the same after experiencing PONR.
So that's why I pick on Jekyll (though your reaction makes it fun everytime).

Though Jekyll gets great songs, he is just so self absorbed with his quest, he does not notice how he hurts people and then when people start dying - he cares more that he may lose his reputation rather than the lives he as afffected. He's not worried for himself so much as for his work. The poor guy's so obsessive with bettering mankind that he can't handle the thought that his ideas might be shunned. "No one must ever know What I have done For if anyone does All my work is undone And I must gain control Of this monster inside In the name of the people who've died!" Ingesting that formula was a selfless act. Even though the idiots at the Board slammed his proposal he still cared enough to use himself as a test subject. That's sexy dedication.

can anyone else see the similarities between Jekyll and a drug addict? or is that just my screwed up mind at work again?

^ No, you're right. Some productions emphasise that more than others. But even in his frantic mental state he still has the presence of mind to lock himself in his room rather than risk hurting other people... and of course later he takes his own life. Ultimate sacrifice.
All part of the tragedy. *hugses le docteur*

The poor guy's so obsessive with bettering mankind that he can't handle the thought that his ideas might be shunned....That's sexy dedication. I don't know - noble and selfless, or just obsessed with proving himself right??? Obsessed with proving himself right, yes -- but not in a egotistical way. He wants to be right for the sake of everyone else; if he's wrong, the world is doomed. That sort of thing. I adore Ant-as-Hyde singing -- Alive! is easily my favourite track on there and Dangerous Game is the best duet Ant's done. Hyde as a character though? No no no. Violence does nothing for me. kl would probably get along with him.
