One of my acquaintances is planning to travel to Australia in Oct. and she would like to bring back some of Anthony's CDs or DVDs. Could anyone give me some advice regarding how and where to get those stuff? She couldn't shop online during her stay in Australia.

For DVDs ((at least, Patience, HMS Pinafore / Trial By Jury and Fledermaus, the best place to look would be in an ABC shop; they're all marked $30.95, but for some reason I got HMS / Trial for $19 ((luck, eh?)) You can also get Tenor and Baritone from there ((I had to pay $33; they added 3 dollars in the 2 months I had it on order and was waiting for it! GRRR!)). Centre Stage is found ANYWHERE; Sanity, The Muses, Borders ... prices vary from 19 - $20. I tend to shop at Borders ((music and book cafe)) because I'm on their e-mail list, so I get sent discount vouchers every month and get 15 - 30% off books, CDs and DVDs. From there I got Face the Music, Back in the Swing, The Best of Act One and On The Boards. I can't find The Secret Garden though, and if I want Midnight Dreaming I'll have to order it via Borders from America. The prices for those CDs are generally in the 20 - $30 mark. You could probably score The Main Event from Borders too, I think I saw it there once; if not, it's SUPPOSED to be in the ABC Shop ((I hate Adelaide.))
Does this help?

Thanks, I think that helps a lot.
So I'll advise her to try her best to find an ABC shop.

There should be a list of other stores on his website where his stuff is available, so if an ABC shop can't be found, one of those others will have to do ... Ah! At the moment I can't find it, but I know it's on there somewhere.

UPDATE:
Borders also has a G&S Box set, which includes both the Patience and HMS Pinafore / Trial By Jury DVDs((also The Mikado and ... something else I've forgotten)). It's going for around about $81.95.
Just thought I'd share that.

It's also got the Mikado with the amazing Peter Cousens, and The Gondoliers with the GORGEOUS David Hobson. It's well worth getting the G&S box set, believe me!

*snaps fingers in recognition* The Gondoliers! That's it! Thank you. I've been racking my brain trying to remember what it was. Oh, Cousens is in The Mikado? Cool; I've never actually seen any of his performances either, so that'll be a first. Yeah I'll get around to picking it up eventually; atm just trying to cut down on the spending habits ... and now Warlow's and Farnham's version of "That's Life / Bad Habits" is in my head Speaking of which, The Main Event arrived today, so hopefully I'll be able to pick a few good bits out of that and whack it up on YouTube soon. OMG, you're using my icon; you mad woman! lol

My friend actually sent me heaps of his "Main Event" stuff and I keep meaning to put it on youtube: I will try and do it soon, to save you having to do it all. I don't have all that much though... just what my friend sent me, about five clips.

Awe, thanks; I've got a ton of orders of videos and audio clips and scripts and all sorts that I've got to get through also. I haven't gotten aroud to watching The Main Event yet but when I do so, and after you've done those clips, I'll see if there's anything else on it that can be put up

Ah it is I who am going to Australia... Another question: If I can only buy 1~3 of his DVDs, which ones should I buy? We're not allowed to bring a lot of money with us on this trip, and I know DVDs are expensive for me. ( I hate those guides...)

Well the first 3 I bought were Patience (($30)), which is a MUST HAVE ((the pink TIGHTS - enough said)), HMS Pinafore / Trial By Jury (($30)), and Die Fledermaus (($30)). HOWEVER, as Pirates of Penzaze is due to be released before Christmas, provided on when you're coming, I'd recommend that instead of Fledermaus - Fledermaus is good, and I may not have seen Pirates just yet ((will it come to Adelaide, oh Goddess, WHEN?!)), I don't think anyone could resist Warlow the Pirate King - particularly after hearing 'I Am A Pirate King' on his 'On The Boards' album ((Eisenstein is okay, don't get me wrong, but occasionally the orchestra drowns out what they're on about on Fledermaus as compared to the others ... even if on this DVD you get to see him do a long kiss ... *cough*)). If Pirates isn't out by the time you get here, then perhaps you'd better stick with Fledermaus - unless you can get a copy of The Main Event which is under $32 ((every buck counts, believe me)); sad to say I haven't completely finished watching that yet, as things ((and people *evil glares*)) tend to interrupt me, so I cannot give an entire opinion on the DVD ...
Ah, in summery, here are the prices I've seen listed in the store:
Patience: $30 at the ABC Shop HMS / Trial By Jury: Same price and location ((only they gave it to me for $19 for some reason; you never know, you may strike it lucky)) Die Fledermaus: Same price and location The Main Event: $32 at The Muses
Of course if you were willing to splurge but didn't want just Warlow DVDs ((at least 2)), then you could get:
G$S Box Set:$81.95 at Borders, or .............................$90.95 at the ABC Shop
The set includes Patience, HMS/Trial By Jury, The Mikado ((David Hobson)) and Gondaleirs ((Peter Cousens)).
Of course that's just me rambling, but hopefully it was helpful. Anyone else got any ideas?
Ooh, and before I forget, on Wednesday I picked up Highlights from The Main Event at K-Mart for $20, so there's another CD pricing.

Light mistake... I mean, the ad of Penzance... Yeah I got Fledermaus... I could see the London production of Penzance everywhere... But I haven't enough money. One of my friends is deeply attracted by the poster of Penzance, gonna send her Warlow's 'I'm a Pirate King'. *evil smile' Heh heh.

While hopelessly out of date now, I just thought I'd add to the wealth of community knowledge on this topic: There's a shop in South Yarra in Melbourne, VIC which specialises in opera and musical theatre, and are one of the few stockists in Melbourne that are official Skylark distributors. Anthony Warlow and David Hobson both visited the hsop last year for the launch of Tenor & Baritone. The 2 guys who run the shop are awesome blokes and will help track down any other items that they may not have in stock (it was through them I was able to get the jpanese and german language versions of Jekyll & hyde - - don't judge me!!). The site is: www.middle8.com/mem/index.aspThey have all warlow / hobson cds, every opera sutralia dvd (including some paradoxically not released in australia) and all of thei respective dvds. they also have several cds by Teddy Tahu Rhodes (who is quite a nice bloke btw) So, if anyone from Melbourne wants the cds, or ppl from interstate can't find cds they want in their home state - hope I can help G.

Was exploring Lygon St the other day with a friend, it's only across from uni but I've never ventured over there before. Anyway, we went into Readings and browsed around for some books etc. Got home, decided to look up the site and to my delight I found that they have The Secret Garden Aust. Highlights on their catalogue. Says it's not in stock but available for order and the price listed is $19.95. They also have Tenor and Baritone and The Snow Goose listed. Haven't had the chance to go in and ask them about ordering yet but will do very soon. This is the site... www.readings.com.au/
