How lovely! Thank you so much for a great news! I just wrote to OpusArt to see if they have a project to release NTC/All region version of this show. I'd like to collect all his DVDs, but PAL system is hopeless...

What drives me bonkers about this otherwise great announcement is that when it was said that the show would be airing on tv in December last year, every fan naturally expected the dvd release to follow very soon after, as it does most of the time with the ABC... so i was hyped three months ago and they've gone and made us wait! Most likely i suppose because it was still on tour.

Oops, apologies to the dear little Bilby! Having been used to the cotton-tailed EB for so long (which shows my age) I haven't quite adjusted to Australia's very own Easter icon yet.

Myself and my mummy always thought that it should be the Easter Chook... as they do the hard work where eggs are concerned. This rebellious belife stemmed primarily from an Easter cartoon i saw as a kid where the hens went on strike against Mr Bunny coz he didn't recognise their importance in the holiday! hehehe... but i digress! It's about bloomin' time for Pirates fun at home! (in good quality, unlike my video tape copy)

I'VE SEEN THAT ONE!!!
*cough*
I've been such a twit; I should've bought Jon English's version when it was available. Now they've taken it out of ABC!!! BOOOOOOO!
((Yes, I've had a thing for Jon English since I was a kid. Awkward, eh?))

Why is it no longer there? Oddness! I mean, they carry old and new BBC versions of shows and yet they don't want to carry two Pirates? ??

The ABC Shop Online is still advertising all the Jon English G&S DVDs, so you should be able to get his Pirates from your local ABC Centre.

Pinafore/Jury was released in Australia December '05, and in the US June '06 (by Kultur) so you shouldn't have a long wait.

Newsflash! The DVD has arrived at MEM already and pre-orders will be shipped out in the next 24 hours, so presumably other Australian suppliers will now have stocks as well !

I'm planning to order it next month, if things go right with my credit card. The price is relatively higher than the other DVDs.
Sadly middle8 doesn't have Fledermaus. *sigh* I still have to look for it somewhere else.

Hey Windbelle -
Aree you sure that Middle8 doesn't have a copy? They often have things in-store that they don't advertise on the website, and they've been very good about ordering in things for me (like Japanese versions of Jekyll). Just don't want to see you miss out on what is a very good production of Fledermaus.

Fledermaus was released on DVD a couple of months before Pinafore/Jury, so it should certainly still be available - email Max at MEM and ask him to hunt up a copy for you. Or .... just found this happy information for NTSC viewers ~ Set for release on May 29th from Kultur. Johann Strauss: Fledermaus: Lindy Hume / Anthony Warlow / Gillian Sullivan / Amelia Farrugia: Sydney Opera House Furthermore, Amazon.com - who can't spell Warlow, and I've drawn their attention to the fact - are accepting pre-orders here ~ www.amazon.com/Strauss-Fledermaus-Anthony-Wardlow-Australian/dp/B000O1715C/ref=gfix-ews-form/002-0577700-4075202

Well, I may ask middle8 if they have Fledermaus for oversea customers. Thanks for your information, guys. I'm sure the American fans would be happy about the news of amazon.
I know Fledermaus is available on ebay, but it takes time to get accustomed to shopping on ebay. If middle8 has it, then I can save some extra shipping charge packaged with Pirates.

If it didn't cost $30 just for the DVD alone I could've picked up a copy and sent it to you. ((damn budget!)) But I hope you get your hands on a copy and I hope you enjoy it. The French accent ... *drools*

According to the ABC Shop Online - who still insist the Pirates release date is April 4 - the DVD has a Special Feature, which seems to be interviews with Stuart Maunder, Andrew Greene and "members of the cast"! (Also, incredibly, English subtitles - although on the last night of Pinafore/Jury in Melbourne I heard a woman [in A Row Stalls] complain about the lack of surtitles!!)

Ahhh - as an usher who worked several performances of Pinafire/TBJ in Melbourne, I can tell you we recieved a lot of complaints about a lack of surtitles from people in A and B rows!
My personal favourite was one lady who came up to me and told me that their night at the theatre had been ruined because they'd come all the way from Geelong to see Anthony Warlow and he hadn't been on stage in Trial By Jury as advertised ... it took me all of ten minutes to convince her that he had been on, he was just looking, talking and singing in character!!

Lol, that reminds me of someone on youtube claiming the Judge was not Anthony. We're often tricked by his characters. I would not believe it's him if I was not absolutely assured by the cast list.
