So.. How many members from Unexpected Song will be there for the final show in Brisbane 14th August? I'm going but was wondering if anyone would be stagedooring etc?
I've been away from the sight way too long, Darn work!!!! I've been telling heaps of people to go and see the show, and all of them have loved it and can't believe it about the cast recording not being made. I can't get enough of the show either, there are not enough words to describe how is makes me feel. It's a very special musical!

Not me! We've had our miraculous Warlow viewing for the century. ... and, dang it all, I was supposed to write a review. I said I would.... I started wrote a fair bit, but my three second attention kicked in and I wandered away.

Ozzie
Are you going with anyone else? I would love to meet up.
I have tickets for the 30th as well. The relatives I was going with probably can't make it now so if you or anyone you know would be interested in the tickets. They are in center of row M in balcony 1.
It looks like my relatives are able to go on Saturday after all. I would still love to meet up on Sunday.

I hope you all have a fantastic time!
I've found a copy of the novel (which is fantastic) and now I can only imagine how amazing the show is. The must have cut out alot though. I'm just nudging halfway and Yury is still with Tonya, and they're on a train to Yuriatin with her father and Sasha.

Tori I believe the musical follows the poems more than the whole book. Mind you I have never read the book. There was a TV version made with Sam Neil and Keira Knightley. This version follows a similar story line to the musical. The Omar Sharif film version follows a slighly different story line and includes some characters such a Yuri's half brother that don't appear in the musical or the Keira Knightley version. They all have slightly different endings. It sounds like your enjoying the book.

The book is great. Long-winded and somewhat complex, but fantastic nonetheless. Each character has a backstory, and the detail in which Pasternak writes is incredible. It starts with Yury as a 10 year old at his mothers funeral. There is also a collection of Yury's poems at the back of the book.
I really must see the movie.
And then the musical... *crosses fingers and toes*

Glad you are enjoying it! I just found it hard to like the character by the end of it though, but I think it may just be a culture thing. You should try to check out the TV movie, it was quite good. I hope you manage to get to see the musical!
Has anyone here seen the show since it moved to Brisbane? Just wondering if any changes have been made.

@ Mazza Sorry for the delay in responding, Work has been driving me around the block lately. I'd love to catch up with you, I will meeting up with another friend who I haven't seen for awhile but the more the merrier!! I'll send you a message with my mobile!
@ Jayko I was lucky enough to see the show in Sydney and Melbourne and from my memory, there is not much difference between those and the Brisbane show. So I don't think alot if anything has changed!

I've seen the show in Sydney and Melbourne as well I couldn't really say there was a lot of difference. The show in Sydney was when Anthony was still recovering from his torn muscle and when I saw it in Melbourne Martin wasn't appearing. So the shows were a little different but nothing significant. Looking forward to the weekend.

Martin wasn't appearing? That sounds very sad to me. I wasn't sure if they might have had cast changes or lyric changes. I know they changed some of the Godsend lyrics from the first Sydney shows, but I think that is all. Hope you have a great time at the show on the weekend!

Lots of the articles still say it's a work in progress, so it wouldn't have suprised me if there had been changes from place to place.... maybe they're making a list, and they'll make any changes when they swap countries?

I love the change from "poor love, you look so thin" because he looks chunky from all the clothes under his overcoat to "poor love, you look so weak"! God I miss it!

They changed Godsend?!
It was a bit odd seeing it when she said "look so thin", that's a good change. Not to say anything against Warlow's build, but if they wanted to make that line work they probably would have needed to find a corset for that scene, for him and the understudy.

The change I remeber from Godsend was " Pasha lies across Lara and Tusiere(?) when he starts singing "When were shivering in the cold" ......but now he just sits next to them!

No, the lyrics changed as well in Godsend. It used to say: Then she'll patch the roof I declined to fix While I read Marx and nap... *Pasha lies down and pretends to sleep* But to be fair, I'll do my share I'll crochet a sleeping cap
Which changed to the bit about stirring the borscht and giving birth to marxist twins. The problem was that when Pasha pretends to sleep, and the orchestra went silent, nobody laughed and it felt kinda awkward.

Ah, I see.
... but to be honest, the giving birth to twins bit kind of made me cringe.

Yeah. The music is beautiful, but the lyrics are a little rough in spots.

You guys mention that some of the lyrics are being tweaked. Would that be another excuse why the recording didn't happen?
