Ahh, the awkwardness of families. And for the record, my brother thinks we're all weird. Hilarious, but weird.

Golly Gosh! I leave you two alone for an hour while I cook dinner and look what you get up to!!! XD That was squeaky clean by our standards. Personally, I blame Molly. If she had never made the comment about me jumping in the river and then onto Ant I would never have turned out like this. You blame Molly, I blame Sandy... XD Is this a bad time to mention I'm listening to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? Probably. If I'd ever seen Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I know; I'm deprived. Ditto. I'm rather thankful for my father's incompetency towards computers, my sister's dislike in anything I'm interested in, and my mother's tendency to only play games or look up scrap booking materials when on the net. Mother tried to open a window once. Somehow, she ended up playing a tennis game my brother put on the computer. I think I'm safe.

"Weird" I'm used to. Far better than being "normal". Oh, BTW, did I PM you the password to the VIP board when you hit 25 posts? It's just that I've noticed you're eligible to meet Dorian and yet I don't recall ever giving you access to the VIP Board. @ unwinding: RENT! CHITTY!! NOW!!! Dick Van Dyke is Caratacus, you can't miss that!! Oh, in the Original Cast Recording I've got ((which I will give to Dorian; I haven't heard the version he has though)) Michael Ball is Caratacus ((which is slightly scary)). Richard O'Brien is the Child Catcher XD

^ I phrased that bad. She wasn't actually playing; she'd just managed to start the game up. Don't ask how. I think she just clicked random buttons and hoped for the best!
Whenever she enters this room, it's always, "Anthony again?"

My mum thinks all I do is oggle over Ant all day.
Not true. Today I tried to finish one of my unfinished compositions; and she interrupted me just when I was playing it perfect for the first time. >)_<

Chitty Chitty has forever been on my list of films to watch.
My mother's technologically incompetent. I think she thinks the internet consists of this website and little else. *sigh*

Perhaps some of you might be able to help me out: I really want to know his octave range.
Ideas?

If judging that his note in Beauty School Drop Out is his highest note ((and from what I can recall he hasn't hit anything higher than that)), that's a G ((second G above middle C on a piano / keyboard)). I don't know which audio piece has his absolute lowest note on it so I can't really figure it out, but if I had to guess judging on This Nearly Was Mine, he has probably a 4 - 5 octave spread; so low for a fact that my keyboard won't even get there.
Of course I could be wrong, as male voices are a bit harder to determine, but I think the sound is pretty much right, so ... possibly a 4 - 5 octave spread, maybe ... 3 below middle C? I'm not sure.
52) In HMS Pinafore, when Sir Joseph catches Captain Corcoran swearing, you sang / said "Damme". Are you aware that it's actually the name of a place in Belgium?

I think for males it's very hard to determine range beacause of the falsetto element. When he is singing normally, not falsetto, he says his range is two octaves (I think in the ABC FM interview he says that), A - A. But then add the falsetto, and that's a whole new ball game!

I count the falsetto when counting male octaves; I don't know why, it only makes me feel jealous.

So, all idolising aside, are we relatively certain with five? I'm trying to win over my Prince-loving younger brother. This question was for his benefit (the showoff. "Prince has a five-octave range." Pfft.)

Oh, gag.
Around about 5, I don't know if it's a full 5 or not; if I had an actual piano instead of my crappy casio keyboard I might be able to punch it out ((but at least my keyboard goes lower than guitars, so it's useful to have around; for now)).

Victory! Just had the little brother listen to Beauty School Dropout. Afterward, he pulled the earphones out in stunned silence and sat there contemplating for a moment. Eventually, he admitted, "...That is pretty high."

The beginning of being reformed?
All those fan-girls that squeal over male falsettos really need to listen to Beauty School Drop Out. I'm always tempted to hunt down their e-mails and send it to them just to show them how wrong they are.

Well... not likely. I did, however, also get a few chuckles out of him from Pinafore, which is quite an accomplishment. He doesn't like Anthony's vibrato because it "takes away from the melody" and he's not into those kind of songs.
And he thinks musical theatre is lame. -)_-
Beauty School Dropout was the right tack to take: he was obsessed with Grease for a while.

Musical theatre lame?!?! XD
Beauty School Dropout is an excellent conversion piece. The usual response I get from people listening is "Wow". Except from my nan, who refused to believe it was Ant until I showed her the CD cover!

I showed her the cover using my iPod, and once she recovered from laughing said "Well there's a lot to be said for the man being bald". XD

Weird thing for me and Sandy is, it's the kids we have to watch out for... and for me occasionally the husband comes in just to see what I'm laughing about! Hurtful comment from my youngest son this afternoon. He mentioned that when he was in Melbourne for the Grand Prix last weekend, he managed to get Mark Webber's autograph, except then Mark Webber used his Sharpie (not mine, I hasten to add), to sign other autographs and made off with it. I said, "Well at least Anthony didn't steal my Sharpie!!" to which he replied, "No. He's just stolen your life, your dignity and your self-respect!!!!" XD
