I had a lovely time in Brisbane although it was a bit hot for me. However, JB was a bit disappointing. As I have said before Dion Bilios has disappeared and so they had the alternative Frankie (Graham Foote) on for Thursday and Friday night and I don't like his portrayal of Frankie, then on Saturday and Sunday matinee it was the first understudy and Saturday and Sunday night the second understudy. And although they really tried their best, it just wasn't the same as having the "proper" lead. Also, I had forgotten how the upstairs seating at the Lyric is so awkward. I got tickets for the front row but the wooden ledge thing is so high that half of the stage could'nt be seen.
I wonder if any of you clever members would be able to do something for me. I am totally not technically minded and I have tried and tried to download a video but I can't do it. It is on the ticketmaster site when you click onto Jersey Boys - there is quite a long video showing a lot of the show. Can anyone download it and send it to me? I would be so grateful if you could.

I'm glad you had a nice time in Brisbane! I'm sorry Jersey Boys was disappointing. I didn't know that was even possible! I've only ever heard the best in the way of reviews. It's obvious Brisbane isn't getting our weather then, if it was a bit hot for you. We seem to have had two weeks of nothing but murk and rain. Blah. I went and had a look at the video you mean, but am forced to conclude that I haven't the faintest idea. Considering my brother spends a lot of time telling me how close I am to computer illiteracy, this is probably not surprising. There's got to be someone who knows how to do it, though!

Fredus I was totally surprised to find myself disappointed. I wouldn't have thought it possible either but I guess when you have seen the "best" singers in the role so many times and then get less than the best it is understandable. I am also close to "computer illiteracy" and can only do the basics!!
Am I right in thinking I read somewhere you have your own home now? If so - fantastic!! Are you still in the same town?

I guess if you're used to perfection, anything less is going to be disappointing! And yay for fellow computer illiterates! It is possible that I'm not quite as bad as my brother thinks, considering he is a computer engineer, but I do keep finding things that I have no idea about, so maybe I am that bad. And yep! We have got our own home now! It isn't in the same town as before, when we were living in my parents spare bedroom, but we're only an hour down the road, so still close to the family. It's a great place too, much bigger than our unit in Adelaide was, for much less rent. And we have a backyard! And a little lock-up shed thing, which will be handy to stick my jewellery bench in when I get it back from my friend who borrowed it three years ago... It's all very fun though, and now I'm gradually getting much less stressed about things. There are still a bajillion boxes all over the place though. And we're considering ... maybe ... in a little while, getting a cat. I still miss my Cricket cat so much, but I know that any cat we get wouldn't be a replacement or anything, so I hope I won't just feel horribly traitorous. And .... now I've gone on a whole long spiel about not much. Sorry!

Glad to hear things are looking up for you and Mar, Fred. ;D About two? weeks ago my baby cousin was born in New York. Now I've got two little cuzzies over there, hopefully one day I'll get to go over and visit them. I could give it a crack Inj, no problem. Can't make any promises I'll be able to do it but I'm decent with computers so I'll see what I can do for ya. Just post the link or message it to me or something.

Thanks Tori that would be great. www.ticketmaster.com.au/jerseyboys When you go in to the site there is a video playing on the right hand side and that is the one I want if possible. Also, congrats on your new little cousin.

Urg. This video is causing me grief, Inj. My usual methods of 'unembedding' a video from a standard webpage aren't working. I'll keep chipping away at it.

Inj Sorry this has taken me a bit of time. I was away so didn't have access to my laptop. I think I've sorted your video. I know you have problems with downloads so if you message me your address I can send you a DVD.

I also managed to save it - tried sending you a PM a couple of days ago but it kept telling me there wasn't an account in the name of Injeanious, then when I tried clicking on that, rather than just typing it in, it came up with a proper name so I sent it then, but I don't know whether you'll have seen it. Anyway no matter, one of us can send it to you - toss for it!

Thank you so much to both Mazza and Cynthia for being so kind, and also to Tori as well. I have messaged Cynthia tonight. People on this site are all so nice and helpful!
My family on the farm in Makara have an orphan lamb they are bottle feeding. Karen says it is worse then having a new baby. The first night she was up every hour and ended up sleeping in the lounge because the lamb was in a box in front of the woodburner as it was so cold. This is a new experience for them as they only moved onto the farm in April.

Inj Hopefully the lamb has had enough colostrum in the first few hours. We have reared a few lambs I know how much hard work is involved. One thing I would say is that the teats they sell for use with lambs tend to be those black rubber things. I have used baby bottles with fast flow teats for a few years now and the lambs seem to take to them much better. The bottles are a bit small so often you need two bottles to feed once the lamb is taking more than 250mls. I only buy the cheap packs of 3 bottles from woolies. The teats are a bit more expensive but it’s worth it when the lamb comes on.

Mazza, the lamb had colostrum - they had to go to Animates to get it - of course the first Animates shop didn't have any so Leon had to go out to Lower Hutt. "Lucky" seems to be doing well - he is a really big lamb and apparently had his head and one leg sticking out of his mum and she was running around like a mad thing. Leon managed to get the lamb out but one leg was stuck and now lambie is having trouble walking but hopefully he will come right. Unfortunately Leon's grandmother died at the weekend so they have had to go up to Hamilton for the funeral and lambie is being looked after at the farm up the road. Karen said when she gets back if his leg still isn't right she will try and find a vet, although in Wellington it is hard to find a vet for farm animals. They did get baby bottles for him and he feeds really well. Although the farm is 100 acres, there are only around 24 sheep that the last owner had and Karen & Leon "inherited".

I was bullied into going away for a weekend with a friend of mine.... and the weekend is not a story for the happy thread ... but the first night, when I was staying at her place, her stepmum was there with three tiny joeys that she's raising. They were so cute! And also really rather smelly. But, what I was originally going to say, we had a poddy lamb when I was really small, and it all seemed so easy from my point of view! It's amazing how much easier things are when you're a kid and there's adults to do all the work.

Look who we've got! This little man we met at the Albury Cat Rescue on Wednesday. We picked him out of around 30 other cats that we saw (out of the 60 that are generally there). At the time, his name was Perry, but we've affectionately re-named him Minstrel. And kept the "Perry" as a secondary name, mainly so we could randomly quote Phineas and Ferb Some of you may have seen my FaceBook stats about our whole kitty adventure, prominatly the story of Oscar, and while you may consider that getting another cat so soon after his passing may be a bit ... well, just too soon afterwards ... we feel it's time for cat to share in our household, and we really wanted to rescue one before it met Oscar's unfortunate fate. So, here's Minstrel Perry: Attachments:

What a gorgeous little boy. Welcome to little Minstrel. You must be so thrilled - what does Blossom think?
We had dreadful weather on Saturday - storm force winds, torrential rain and it was freezing so I spent the day doing more sorting out. I have taken two large boxes down to the local hospice shop and have a box of almost new clothes to go to Dress for Success - a local charity that supplies clothes to women who are wanting to get back into the work force but can't afford clothes suitable for interviews or wearing to the office.
I have the cd of Anthony singing the two songs from Grease if anyone would like it. Just let me know and I would be happy to post it out. Seems silly hanging on to it when I haven't played it for years.

He is rather beautiful! It's strange though, he purred heaps at the cat rescue, and always has by the sounds of it, and when he first came home he purred heaps... but he's doing it much less now. I'm wondering if he was just starved for attention in the midst of all those other cats! He's meowing more now, to cancel out the lack of purring. He's got a wussy little meow though! Blossom thinks he's awesome. I didn't realise how much she wanted a four legged companion. In fact, the worst trouble we had for the first couple of days was stopping her from jumping on him to try to make him play. He's getting to understand her though and they're starting to have fun chasing each other around the house. I think he'll get to be a cheeky little sod when he's completely settled in though! I spent about an hour this afternoon trying to convince him that he didn't want to get on the benches; I'd like to say I won, but I think he just got bored. Ooh, sorting out clothes, Inj! I'm terrible with that. I sort through the clothes and everything seems to be something that I might wear again... even when I won't. That Dress for Success charity sounds awesome! It's a great idea. Sometimes people just need a bit of a leg-up.

Hey Inj, if no one's snapped up that Grease album yet, may I have it? If I could get it signed someday it'd be a great prize to give out when I can make a future contest, like during the birthday bashes. Even not signed would still make a good prize, considering the rare status it's been given.
That's very kind of you! I too have trouble sorting through clothes, but charity is a great incentive.
Minstrel's also having fun whopping her about the head when they're climbing his fort. The other day he took a bit of Blossy hair with him - lucky she's got such a floofy armour!

Gah. I haven't been here in a while, I'm sorry!
Year 12 finished on tuesday and the weeks leading up to it were hectic. Being my second to last year of HS I've had heaps of work to do, and I'm yet to sit my final exams. But it feels sooo good to be one step closer to leaving school.
Last friday I got see Mumford and Sons live. THEY WE'RE AMAZING. I also discovered Aussie artist Sarah Blasko, who opened for them. She was so awesome too, it was a great night.
I'll be on more after exams.

You're probably forgiven then, tori, with year 12 exams and all! I don't know where everyone else is, Inj. Nobody seems to be coming on here lately. It seems to happen like this, in cycles, just when there's a solid base of regulars, they all wander off. Real life getting in the way, I guess. And I'm not sure if this is a happy thing, as such, but it's definitely a thing.... I'm doing NaNoWriMo this year. I've done almost 14 thousand words (of the fifty thousand word novel I have to try to do during November, for those who haven't heard of it), and it's fun. And tiring. And stressful. And I'm trying to not remember that my target word count for today is 18,333 words, which is so not going to happen. On the upside, I've been writing about cats, which is fun.

@ Inj: I think the lack of Warlow here has led everyone to take a bit of a time out. I suspect we may pick up a bit of activity in the months to come, with international fans or interested parties signing up to take a look around here, and when he comes home I'd be somewhat surprised if people didn't come back to share the excitement. And I too am doing NaNo ... unsuccessfully this time, I'm hitting massive brick walls. @ Tori, good luck with the exams! I haven't heard of Mumford and Sons, but I used to have a Blasko CD ... actually, no, I still do, but to be honest it wasn't as appealing as I thought it would be ((so it's in the eBay pile)). The cover made it look like it was going to be dark and mystical and beautiful and it was just ... I don't know ... not. :/ But it does have one song title that mentions an Albatross.

Where are Cynthia, Mazza, Tori, Jayko, Unwinding Fantasy etc? ? Can't speak for the others, but although I don't always log in, I do check here every day. Have been pretty busy recently, with fairly ordinary things and trying to control the would-be jungle in my garden, but have also done two day trips to Sydney to see Lucy Maunder. Once in "Lucky Stiff" which also featured Luke Joslin and was absolutely hilarious. The other was her own show "Songs in the Key of Black" - just beautiful, as is her CD. Met up with Jeni both times and at the second, although we booked weeks apart and knew nothing about the other's booking, we found we had seats together! Marie-Cris and Fredus - your kitten looks very cute, and good that both pets are getting on together.

Thank you! We think he's rather gorgeous. He's not really a kitten as such, though, more of a teenager. And I'm so jealous! I really wanted to see Lucky Stiff, but there wasn't a chance. I'm still hoping to head to Sydney in February to see Luke Joslin in The Wizard of Oz, but I'm not entirely sure if that'll happen. We'll see how it goes, and it's fun to hope even if nothing comes of it! At it is the time of year to fight with gardens... we're kind of lucky because we've only got a little garden out the front and the landlord pays someone to deal with the lawns. We're struggling to grow veggies in polystyrene tubs though, which is about as much effort as I care to put in right now!

The cover made it look like it was going to be dark and mystical and beautiful and it was just ... I don't know ... not. :/ But it does have one song title that mentions an Albatross. She played mostly songs off her latest album which has only come out recently. I've had a brief listen to some of her old stuff and I had a similar reaction. But her new album is quite a bit more dark/mystical/beautiful. She's got some very interesting orchestral arrangements in there too. Not an album if you're ever depressed for sure. However... I still think she shines best live. Some of the rawness is always lost on a polished studio recording. Mumford and Sons are a four-piece folk rock group from the UK. Think a rowdy foot stamping crowd sing-along. Another band who's recordings have nothing on their live set. I'm definitely finding myself going through a folk/indie rock phase right now... though dear god I listen to pretty much everything these days. And good luck with NaNoWriMo guys! A friend or two of mine are doing it.

I wish I had the desire and/or motivation to write. I have a feeling that anything I write wont be as much of a novel as it will be "Victoria and her opinions and observations about the world". Maybe I could channel that. I dunno. Also, I'm going to watch my local amateur production of Urinetown tonight, should be a right laugh. And their next three shows include Fame (for which I seriously considered auditioning for Grace), Spelling Bee, and wait for it.... AVENUE Q
