That Smithsonian article was very interesting - although I don't agree with his description of Raoul as a "wooden swain".
On Thursday 5th Erin and I went to Sir Frank Kitts Park to see a free concert by the NZ Symphony Orchestra, with singers Tina Cross and Grant Sullivan (who is a friend of Erin's). It was very good, and the highlight for me was when the second half began with an instrumental tribute to Rob Guest - yes they played POTO, Music of the Night, and All I ask Of You. I was sitting there thinking - I want to be in Perth!

You can so tell a woman wrote that review ;D ... and that she obviously needs to join US ;D On another odd note (it has been my weekend for finding odd Phantom-related information), guess where the original Phantom Michael Crawford now spends a good deal of his time, especially summer? Kerikeri, New Zealand! That's only four hours drive from here. He's lucky I've moved my allegiance from him to the best Phantom ever ;D I wonder what the odds are of encouraging Anthony over here? If we can be home for one Phantom, why not two!! ;D

Considering New Zealand is where Richard O'Brien was raised, I think it's only fair if we keep Ant - you can have Crawford. ;D

Thanks for backing me up, Belle. Jess isn't the most reliable of allies when it comes to this sort of thing. Hey! I am so! I just wasn't around because I was having far too much fun in Perth I just have to say, Roy was amazing! (I also won't repeat what I wrote to Eb ) It was the first time I saw him as Phantom and I was just blown away. But I will save the gushing for his site... if he isn't already sick of hearing me say it to him over the weekend!

I guess I'm not the only person here who is quietly repeating "1 month and 24 days, 1 month and 24 days, 1 month and 24 days..." to themselves...

Why is the time passing so slowly - my Mum always says - don't wish your life away!! But I can't help wishing that the next few weeks would speed by so I can get to Perth. BUT - when are they going to release the seats for the last week? Hope it's not going to be a repeat of Auckland.
kiwiphanatic - no I am not going to Starlight Symphony - only went on Thursday night to see Erin's friend singing . You might have seen him as one of the singers on Dancing with the Stars - Grant Sullivan. He was also on that dreadful programme Singing Bee, and he was the singer at Shane Cortese's wedding recently.

They weren't pre-selling like that in Auckland.

So, this isn't about the musical, but I found a copy of Dario Argento's Phantom of the Opera, and I finally got around to watching it last night. I couldn't decide if I was amused or appalled. Hehe, telepathic rats.

That's the one. It's the only version of Phantom I've come across (so far) that I can't understand why Christine wants either of them. One looks sleazy, and the other is just repellent. Normally, I'm for Erik all the way...

And it would have to be the only non-masked, non-scarred, absolutely redundant Phantom in existence; do you think this is a correct statement? Oh Julian Sands; you and your freakiness

Yes indeed. Redundant is exactly the right word there.

A work colleague went to see Geoff Sewell Incognito on Friday night, and she said that he had as a guest star the singer who is currently playing Christine in Australia. I guessed Ana Marina, but wondered if that is corect or if my friend Lucy is totally wrong and it could be someone from perhaps England or somewhere else. Did anyone go to POTO on Friday or Saturday night? If so, was Ana Marina singing?
