(So shoot me, I couldn't think of a catchy title.) A lot of you are probably thinking that this is hitting borderline crazy right about now. Well, a lot of you are wrong. We crossed the border long ago! Here are some interesting sites for Phantom of the Opera cosplaying. Even if you'd never whittle away your hours embroiding the exact number of beads onto a cape replica or puzzling out Erik's measurements (...what?) it's still pretty impressive seeing what these people construct from only a few dodgy reference pictures. community.livejournal.com/poto_costumingwww.phantomess.com/forumphantomonabudget.braveblog.com <--- this one had me entertained; the cosplayer got swarmed by "phans". XD

I know I am. Look at the beading on the cape!

O)_o Can't I just be a mundane phantom with a regular cape?

I was just going to use whatever I could get my hands on. The cosplaying sites were simply for inspiration.
But curses, I want a fedora, and for that I need a cape... unless I want to look like a Phantom who forgot to get dressed properly in the morning.
Should I bring a staff? XD

I wonder if I've still got that old walking stick I nicked from the high school in Year' 12 ...
Meh, too short anyway.

I truly did mean it as a short stick though; when I used it for The Mock Turtle ((I still don't understand why they made me an old granny if I was the mock turtle ... weird)) it only came up to my hip.

Some things I've been in primary school plays:
- a flower - a Jellicle cat - a cowgirl - an angel - a sailor (In the Navy) - a puppeteer (...for a rain cloud. -)_- )
and
- the Virgin Mary. XD

Weren't you also a giraffe?
I've been
- a star - an old teacher - an old police officer - an old granny / mock turtle - Anne Frank - Puk - Tuptim
Those are all I can remember right now.

^ Yeah, a giraffe/cloud puppeteer. I know I was something dodgy in 2000 (something to do with the Olympics.) Every other role has either faded from memory or been suppressed.
Anne Frank? How old were you? That's not a story for kiddies.

That was in Year' 12. We did a play called Children of the Holocaust ((The material poster we made with chicken wire over the top is still hanging in the Music / Drama room)) where four girls talk about things they remember from their lives, not quite sure where the hell they were and what they were doing there ((they were all dead to begin with, that was obvious form early on)). Biggest role I ever played, boring as pox. Despite Miss Syke's mother having excellent taste in music, Miss Sykes had rather bad taste when choosing plays ((but to be fair, the ones we did with her were far better than any of the stuff we had done with previous teachers)).

That's okay then. Reminds me of this local show I saw a few years back about four women discussing their various experiences coping with husbands who'd been in the Vietnam War. Boring as the pox's unimaginative cousin.
Dad liked it, but he had the nostalgia factor to work with. XD

And it's a far better choice from what we were originally going to do. If we had gone with our original play, we would have been clowns.
Seriously. CLOWNS.

*giggletantrum* We had to dress up as clowns (well, the theme was "circus") for a school athletics carnival. Quite enjoyable with the wig and makeup and fluffy red nose but the frilly shirt was itchy and the pants I wound up in were really uncomfortable!
Dressing up as pirates ("Peter Pan" theme) was more successful. I have more experience with them. My friends and I have made it a habit to do pirate dress-up for International Speak Like a Pirate Day.
Yes, I keep strange company.

Company I would have loved to have kept growing up. My friends ((" ")) were all into the latest pop tunes and / or Korn, Limp Biscuit, and Evernesence ((I do admit to one of their songs being tolerable, but the rest of it I'd rather hurl out the window, thank you very much))

But they also take every single opportunity to tease me about Anthony (though not quite as bad as the comment you posted in the shoutbox earlier. You have no idea how long I was staring at those two words for! *giggletantrum*) Just before, I caught up with a friend I hadn't seen in a few weeks. No, "How are you?" or "What have you been up to?" or, "It's nice to see you." No, what I get is: "I haven't forgotten about you and your table!"
They are a real riot though. Everyone gives as good as they get. Probably why I'm becoming so perverted around here -- it's all my peers' influence!
The people I've kinda got lumped with at uni though are... girly girls. And not very entertaining. I shouldn't complain, but...

I was a loner in my first year'; the age factor doesn't help ((they were either far younger or far older)), but in my second year' I hung out with some wonderful people. Odd at times, but wonderful.
And potential Warlovians, but I didn't press it too much.

^ My friends have learned not to ask me (serious) questions about Anthony. They know that's a fast track to a one-sided conversation! Last night the dutch courage kicked in again and I let some of them know about the plans for LSS. They both exchanged glances, then one started interrogating me about who I was going with. ("Not that crazy lady you met in Melbourne?" XD)
I didn't mention this site. Or the glitter masks. They were freaked out enough as it was.
Still, a vast improvement on my other friend's reaction: "You're a stalker!"

^ I get that from my family regularly!
Back on the cosplay issue, seeing as you're all kinda shocked about the beading on the cape, does it make me a very strange one planning a trip to a massive material warehouse in Melbourne to see how much cheaper I can get stuff in bulk and then decide who to go as.... are we all going capes and masks (possibly tux's and whatnot also) or as other Phantom charcaters as well?

Red Death... would be a helluva costume to make. @).@ The idea of different characters is appealing, but I might stick with classic!Erik. Dress suit will probably be the least painful costume to pull together.
But I want the fedora... *sigh*
(Apparently, the cape is really heavy.)

It looks really heavy- double lined and heavily beaded. Probably hot as all hell too....
