Just some random facts about the site and things that have happened.
1: Unexpected Song was created on the 20th of April, 2006, at 9:03 pm ((however due to Daylight Savings it can be considered as 10:03 pm)) on a Thursday night, after Mar had exhausted Anthony Warlow's ((unupdated)) website and could find no places to meet other fans.
2: "Unexpected Song" was chosen as the site name:
- a) Because "Skylark" was taken
- b) Because "Stardust" would have been too close to "The Stardust" ((the David Bowie fan forum Mar and Mar ran until it's virtual death))
- c) Because "Autumn Leaves" - though pretty - just didn't feel right as a title to a fan forum about Anthony Warlow, and
- d) Because Unexpected Song was Mar's ((other)) favourite song at the time ((considering she only had The Best of Act One and Centre Stage when the forum was made ... plus the suggestion of randomisity in her nature and her love of music ["Unexpected" = never knowing what'll happen next, "Song" = love of singing and music in general)).
3:Marley - the other half of Mar and Mar - has never registered and therefore has nothing to do with the site. SEE NUMBER 18.
4: On the 21st of April, 2006, Mar found The International Anthony Warlow Fan Association and registered.
5: After an extremely long wait for membership approval to the IAWFA, Mar got bored, returned to Unexpected Song and tried to make the most of it.
6: Before US's first year' anniversary the forum was switched to member's only due to the rediculous amount of porn-bots the site seemed to attract each week.
7: After one year' of existence, Unexpected Song - or US for short - celebrated it's first birthday with the Unexpected Song Phantom Gala, which was also a tribute to Warlow's then up-and-coming return to the mask. A special Phantom Gala Gift Pack was given out to all members ((who asked for it)).
8: The forum skin "Phantom" was made especially for the Gala, but as it was a lot more appealing than the previous two skins, the Phantom skin became the default skin and has been so ever since ((which means it took a full year' before the site was made reasonably presentable)).
9: The term "Warlovian" was coined by US member Greg, sparking not only the creation of the Warlovian Dictionary but also a more concentrated fan-base.
10: The Phantom of the Opera Australian Cast Recording Petition began on the 26th of September, 2007, and in its first week it had gathered 55 signatures. Also, it was suggested by US member Tara O'Connor to have a petition for a filmed version, but instead of two seperate ones the existing petition extended to become the Phantom of the Opera Australian Cast Recording and / or Filmed Stage Performance Petition (Starring Anthony Warlow).
11: Mar first - EVER - saw Anthony Warlow perform on the 21st of November, 2007, as the Phantom.
12: Mar saw Warlow perform for a second time on the 8th of January, 2008.
13: She then met Warlow - along with members lauren and Becs - that night ...
14: ... and met him again on her own on the 9th of January, 2008 ((an exact month after her 21st birthday)). ^)_^
15: US celebrated it's second birthday with the Unexpected Song's 2nd Birthday Bash, running from the 1st of April to the 1st of May (and in open-forum mode). Only one game was set up for this - the Guess That Clip! game - and the top three winners received a prize pack each of authentic Anthony Warlow pamphlets from An Evening with Anthony Warlow, HMS Pinafore / Trial By Jury and The Mikado, all of which were donated by resident Keeper of the Scrapbooks, scuffa.
16: On the 5th of July, 2008 ((despite the American settings on YouTube)), Unexpected Song launched its first ever YouTube advertisement, made by jayko.
17: On the 13th and 14th of September, 2008, Unexpected Song held its first unofficial mini-convention in Sydney during the LSS Weekend ((the Last Sydney Show of The Phantom of the Opera)). Around 25 or so members attended ((actual count unknown, could have been 28)), saw the show and met several members of the cast and crew, including Anthony Warlow ((more details in The Phantom LSS 2008 subforum)).
18: On the 2nd of January 2009, at 7:40pm ACST, Marley - the other half of Mar and Mar - registered at Unexpected Song.
