My Fair Lady Programme

At the end of a long article about Cameron Mackintosh in yesterday's SMH:

"He is also keen to see the Royal National Theatre production of My Fair Lady, which he presented in London in 2001, staged in Sydney before too long. It won five Olivier Awards including best musical and best choreography, and starred Jonathan Pryce as Professor Higgins and Martine McCutcheon as Eliza Doolittle.

There is, however, a sticking point. Opera Australia is planning its own production of My Fair Lady next year in Sydney and Melbourne."

We've definitely come to the end of the G&S cycle (and OA won't be best pleased about that news leak, well before August) so we can draw our own conclusions about the possible casting for the new production!

Umm... I don't mind if Anthony takes the part again, although he has done that role pretty much -- three times as far as I know. He was quite young to play that old bachelor when he first did it. (But then he has always been young for his roles since phantom, lol. ) Oh, I wish they could film him in My Fair Lady too.

I know he's done it a few times but i'd love to see him in the role myself, so if he were to take it on, i'll be getting a ticket for sure! And bless him - i think actually every role since Guys and Dolls he's been considered "too young" form but he just keeps proving them wrong! STICK IT TO THE MAN, ANT!
