The Unexpected Song Media Player is not just for those of us who wish to listen to a bunch of Warlow's tracks as we browse the forum; for those new to Warlovianism and for those who are curious to know what it's all about, the US MP contains various two tracks for each of Warlow's common albums, including some extras from rare albums - and a Christmas tune for good measure. ;D All of which displays Warlow's wide vocal range and talent. AUTOMATIC TRACKS:- Beauty School Dropout (Grease Arena Spectacular) - Handle the Fame (Reckless Kelly Motion Picture Soundtrack) - Handle the Fame [Reprise] (Reckless Kelly Motion Picture Soundtrack) - Lily's Eyes (The Secret Garden) - My Prayer (Grease Arena Spectacular) - O Holy Night (Christmas 2001) - Race You to the Top of the Morning (The Secret Garden) VOTED-ON ALBUM TRACKS- Back in the Swing: Autumn Leaves (7 votes), Without a Song (5 votes) - The Best of Act One: This Is the Moment (5 votes), Music of the Night (4 votes) - Centre Stage: You're Nothing Without Me (5 votes), Anthem (4 votes) - Face the Music: The Girl from Ipanema (7 votes), Charade (4 votes) - Jekyll and Hyde: Confrontation (8 votes), It's a Dangerous Game! (6 votes) - Les Misérables: Do You Hear the People Sing? (7 votes), The ABC Café / Red and Black (5 votes) - The Main Event CD / DVD: Granada - CD (3 votes), World on a String / I've Got You - DVD (4 votes) - Midnight Dreaming: Unexpected Song (5 votes), Losing My Mind (3 votes) - On the Boards: I am a Pirate King (5 votes), Stars (5 votes) - Tenor & Baritone: Tenor & Baritone (6 votes), Give Me a Ticket to Heaven (4 votes) - The Snow Goose: Chapter 5: Sailing (4 votes) Hope you enjoy the songs, whether you're new to it all or not. Just don't all jump on it at once; I've got limited bandwidth after all. ((Old stuff under here)) As I mentioned in the e-mail the other day ((sorry this took so long to set up)) I've decided to insert a non-auto-play media player onto the site as a bit of an album preview for people who are new to Warlovianism or who perhaps haven't been able to get a hold of all of his albums yet. Now there are a few question marks around several things; for one, whether we include audio from Jekyll and Hyde, Les Miserables, Die Fledermaus, HMS Pinafore, Patience, Pirates of Penzance and Trial By Jury. I'm not sure if I have his little Gaoler's part from Tosca in audio form ((I know I've got the video clip ... somewhere)) so I'm not including that. Also, I don't have The Secret Garden, so I don't know if he's on any other tracks apart from Lily's Eyes and Race You to the Top of the Morning. If he isn't, then we can use those tracks for that album and just ignore if someone votes for them in the other albums ((I originally got them from The Number #1 Musicals Album of All Time [along with The ABC Cafe / Red and Black Cafe], but they're obviously found on the other albums too)). For The Main Event, the choice is between the Highlights album ((which includes the bonus tracks)) or the DVD audio. So that's why the TME thread doesn't have any poll options yet. As for The Snow Goose ... I was really thinking of having this as a music audio player but since it's him, if we do decide to have one of the chapters on it, will everyone agree to Chapter 3? That's the one where he adds a little bit of singing in it, after all. I don't really have to explain the "Automatic Tracks" list, do I? These things need to be discussed here before any more threads and polls can be made, but also feel free to discuss anything else. Please note that just because the threads are locked, doesn't mean the polls are. I'm just trying to centralise the conversation into this thread about the media player. MAIN THREADALBUM THREADS- Back in the Swing- The Best of Act I- Centre Stage- Face the Music- The Main Event CD- The Main Event DVD- Jekyll and Hyde- Les Miserables- Midnight Dreaming- On the Boards- The Snow Goose- Tenor and Baritone

I think this is a great idea, then people who have only just discovered him will be able to see the different types of music he does. I definitely think you should put up Les Miserables and Jekyll and Hyde clips, but I don't know about the Opera Australia stuff. Now to pick the songs... this will be hard!

Hence the question marks. And I think for the polls for J&H and Les Mis I'll only write in the tracks he's on, otherwise it could make for a very long list; I don't think the poll option will be able to handle every track of the CSR. I can always combine Prologue and I Need to Know, like I did for the Age of Reason / The Phantom of the Opera / A Little More Love Medley (( I didn't put the Oveture on it though; it didn't really need it apparently I did )). 'Spose I better set up the threads.

How can you possibly think of not putting J&H on there? I want you to know you tore my loyalties because if it were up to me, I'd have every darn track from that album on there. I Need to Know should be on there, dammit. ...Don't mind me.

It is on there. I combined it with the Prologue because they need to be together, just like I did with tracks 1 - 5 from The Main Event.
And I only included the ones Ant has because the player's all about his performances.

No, I mean, I Need to Know should be on the player but so should Dangerous Game and Confrontation and This Is The Moment and The World Has Gone Insane and...

If it was to promote J&H, I'd put all of them up. But this one is going to be like going onto Ant's site ((were it still in existance)) and listening to the few tracks from Tenor and Baritone they had uploaded.

ANNOUNCEMENT Please acknowledge and respond to the following: 1: Lily's Eyes and Race You to the Top of the Morning have become automatic tracks representing The Secret Garden album. Therefore, please do not vote for these tracks on The Best of Act One as it will not be counted. 2: The Snow Goose album thread has been created; you may only choose one chapter out of the 5, so think very carefully ((listen to it a few times if need be)). 3: No one has responded AT ALL concerning whether or not to use the audio from either The Main Event CD or DVD. Could we please come to a decision soon so that I may add the poll onto the empty thread and the voting for that album can commence. Thank you. [/end admin moment]

My answer is yes. I love Granada, and Love is A Gift.

Also yes, why wouldn't we want to use it?

The question is whether to use the songs from the CD or DVD. I think the CD would probably be better quality wouldn't it?

Oh ok, well then yes cd sounds like the easier and better and gooderer choice to me.

But Greg did a wonderful job of getting the audio from the DVD, remember? So they're pretty much equal quality.

I guess it also depends on what songs are chosen as to which version we like better... this isn't making it easier is it?

I think maybe Mar you should just make an executive decision and we can vote from whichever we are given, it is after all, all Ant so it's not like there are going to be any dodgy songs to choose from. And i think if many of us havent voiced our opinions yet then we wont be outraged by which one is chosen.

I think I've made enough executive decisions to last a lifetime. It's really one of those things where I'd like to have a consensus or the majority of the vote before I make up the poll, as the DVD audio and the CD have great variations.

You could always just have an incredibly long poll including both versions of each song, then people can choose which they like

Post by Marie-Cris on Aug 26, 2008 13:13:23 GMT 9.5
Polls only allow for 35 fields; I don't think that'll be enough. I suppose I could always make two polls, one for the CD and one for the DVD, and then see which version of what from where gets the most votes.
Sound like a plan?

As someone who's only recently become aware of Anthony Warlow through his live performance in the PotO in July (well, I'd heard of him before, but I don't think I'd actually heard him sing), I really appreciate your efforts to uh 'Antducate' the uninitiated The limits of my exposure to date are generally whatever can be found via youtube!

Voted (except for The Snow Goose, have to listen to that again...) I must admit, it was really hard to choose. I had to resist voting for This Is The Moment whenever it came up and just voted for it once. But I understand-- without the limit, everyone will just vote for everything and instead of a sampler the player will end up playing all of Ant's works.
Ant being as he is, all songs finally chosen will be great and will draw new fans, no doubt. Great job, and I congratulate Captain Mar on all the excellent work!

ANNOUNCEMENT The Main Event DVD thread is now up; someone was quick off the mark to vote. I have the current tally; remember everyone, I don't want to have two of the same track on the player, and as you can see we've got quite a few ties, so you need to keep voting for a bit longer. Current Tally: 8th September 2008- Back in the Swing: 1st Place: TIE: Autumn Leaves / Without a Song 2nd Place: (one of the tied tracks?) - The Best of Act I: 1st Place: This Is the Moment 2nd Place: TIE: Music of the Night / Anthem - Centre Stage: 1st Place: TIE: Music of the Night / You're Nothing Without Me 2nd Place: (one of the tied tracks?) - Face the Music: 1st Place: The Girl from Ipanema 2nd Place: TIE: Just in Time / They Can't Take That Away From Me / More / Little Girl / Charade / Lover Come Back to Me - The Main Event CD: 1st Place: TIE: I Honestly Love You / Love is a Gift 2nd Place: (one of the ried tracks?) - The Main Event DVD: 1st Place: TIE: Granada / You're The Voice 2nd Place: (one of the tied tracks?) - Jekyll and Hyde: 1st Place: Confrontation 2nd Place: TIE: Alive! / It's a Dangerous Game! - Les Misérables: 1st Place: Do You Hear the People Sing? 2nd Place: The ABC Café / Red and Black - Midnight Dreaming: 1st Place: Unexpected Song 2nd Place: TIE: Losing My Mind / I'll Be Seeing You - On the Boards: 1st Place: TIE: I Am a Pirate King / Being Alive / Stars 2nd Place: (one of the tied tracks?) - The Snow Goose: 1st Place: Chapter 5: Sailing 2nd Place: n/a - Tenor and Baritone: 1st Place: Tenor & Baritone 2nd Place: TIE: Give Me a Ticket to Heaven / Tom Bowling

ANNOUNCEMENT Well, I buggered that up. I made a critical error in the poll of The Main Event CD so I've restarted the thread ((links are correct)). The voting seems to be clearing away most of the ties from the last count, so if we can get all the voting wrapped up soon ((as in, the next month or so)) I can start building the player. Here's the latest tally: Current Tally: 18th September 2008- Back in the Swing: 1st Place: Without a Song 2nd Place: Autumn Leaves - The Best of Act I: 1st Place: This Is the Moment 2nd Place: Anthem - Centre Stage: 1st Place: You're Nothing Without Me 2nd Place: Music of the Night - Face the Music: 1st Place: The Girl from Ipanema 2nd Place: TIE: Just in Time & More - The Main Event CD: - - The Main Event DVD: 1st Place: World on a String / I've Got You 2nd Place: TIE: What Kind of Fool Am I? & You're the Voice - Jekyll and Hyde: 1st Place: Confrontation 2nd Place: It's a Dangerous Game! - Les Misérables: 1st Place: Do You Hear the People Sing? 2nd Place: The ABC Café / Red and Black - Midnight Dreaming: 1st Place: Unexpected Song 2nd Place: Losing My Mind - On the Boards: 1st Place: TIE: I Am a Pirate King & Being Alive & Stars 2nd Place: (one of the tied tracks?) - The Snow Goose: 1st Place: TIE: Chapter 1: The Marshlands Theme & Chapter 5: Sailing 2nd Place: n/a - Tenor and Baritone: 1st Place: Tenor & Baritone 2nd Place: Give Me a Ticket to Heaven

ATTENTION: The polls are closed, the votes tallied, and there are a few vote-offs that need to be done. But first, the tracks that ARE going into the media player: VERDICT: 25th of October 2008- Back in the Swing: Without a Song (5 votes) - The Best of Act One: This Is the Moment (5 votes) - Centre Stage: You're Nothing Without Me (5 votes) - Face the Music: The Girl from Ipanema (7 votes) - Jekyll and Hyde: Confrontation (8 votes), It's a Dangerous Game! (6 votes) - Les Misérables: Do You Hear the People Sing? (7 votes), The ABC Café / Red and Black (5 votes) - The Main Event CD / DVD: Granada - CD (3 votes), World on a String / I've Got You - DVD (4 votes) - Midnight Dreaming: Unexpected Song (5 votes), Losing My Mind (3 votes) - On the Boards: I am a Pirate King (5 votes), Stars (5 votes) - Tenor & Baritone: Tenor & Baritone (6 votes)
Now, because we had a few ties we're going to have some revotes. There is a bit of an issue with Music of the Night being chosen to represent both Centre Stage and The Best of Act One, so the first vote-off will be of that. I'll draw up a new thread with all the remaining track titles in both albums in it so you can compare the albums before chosing where it should come from. It's not a matter of track quality - they're both the same - but in order for MotN to represent a CD it needs to be decided which one, so that another track on the remaining album can be chosen as a second rep. Once this vote-off has been decided, I'll start the next one.

The Vote Off for Music of the Night is up; I will now move all the previous voting threads into the Archives just to create a bit more room and organisation in the General Board. Please be sure to vote.
