Who here doesn't know David?? And i don't mean David R-S...No... David English! [a href=" "] [/a] I can't believe i haven't started a thread for him before now...*bad son**smacks wrist* All of you know and love him as the Auctioneer/butler in masquarade/the police chief/Monsier Leferve/ etc... But did you know that he also has produced/starred in alot of kids shows and been in quite a few stage productions as well. Am trying to track down these shows but they are proving to be elusive... Anyway am showing the love for a man who has become a Favourite of mine, not only is he a gentleman but he is well deserving of the praise i can't seem to find the words for,i'm lost for words to express how much i respect and adore him. I always look forward to when i'm at the stagedoor and seeing him when he comes out the door, thought i was going to miss him at perth but he came out on the last night to say hello. That was the best part of the 2days...all i was worried about was seeing David before i had to leave. So if you have any stories about david or want to show the love for a guy well deserving of the praise, you know what to do...Hugs all round.

Wow this thread went OT in record time.
Anyhow, although I often pick at Monseiur Leferve, I do like David. He is a great (make that fantastic) all round performer, one that you have to search high and low to find. He plays so many contrasting roles and pulls them all off with 110%.

Equal treatment, I say. Even if that treatment makes them want to kill me, so be it.

My addition to this thread - I know for a fact that he was in the most recent Melbourne production of Miss Saigon - because I saw him after the final show . . . . I will check all my old theatre programs to see who / what else I can find, but it will have to wait until I get home.

But i do have a bone to pick with him....he told me there's stuff on the net about him...I STILL CAN'T FIND IT!!!*headesk* Then again i am usless finding things on the net...

For you Son, I went looking through some old programs. Funny Poppy mentioned Jon English because the first thing I found was from the production of Annie in the late 70s (I think about 77) where Hayes Gordon was Daddy Warbucks and there was a young gentleman in his first professional production listed as John English but from the photo, it is definately David. The next program I have that had him listed in the Ensemble as David English was from Evita. John O'May played Che in this production. There was no information in the program on David though. The Sound of Music with Julie Anthony I think about 1981, David was listed as S.S. Lieutenant. Anthony and David have had a long association beginning in 1986 in Guys and Dolls. Anthony as we all know was Sky and David was Brandy Bottle Bates This association continued in My Fair Lady. The below is the extract from the program for the special concert production at Werribee Mansion, February 1998. The final program I have (apart from the recent Phantom programs) which mentions David is the production of Annie where Anthony was Daddy and David as Jimmy Johnson. Kylie said she saw David in the Melbourne production of Miss Saigon. I have the program from the 2007 production but he was not listed in this. There is also a brief mention in the Internet Movie database. www.imdb.com/name/nm1236745/Hope all this helps.

Ahh Sound of Music, with Julie Anthony and Barthomew John, it was definitly 1981 - as it was the first stage production I ever saw and I can remember what age I was at the time Bonnie

Awwwwwww...thanks guys! @nik- i can just imagine how long you've looked for me, thank you! scuffa- wow...just WOW!!! you truly are the keeper of the scrapbooks!see i thought there was alot of things he has done. I knew he and Anthony have known each other awhile but i thought it went back as far as Annie not Guys and Dolls! GREAT JOB Scuffa!! (I didn't go and see alot of shows when i was younger so i don't have any programs like that, the earliest i have is Jesus Christ Superstar then it jumps to when i lived in London but most of my programs from the shows i saw there were unfortunately badly damaged by water so were tossed out. )

Thanks son. Keeper of the Scrapbooks sounds so much better than "horder". Though I grew up in the country, I was lucky that I had a mother that loved musicals and as a treat every year we would go to the 'big smoke" to see a show or two. And I have just kept doing it all the time though there wa a period in the 80s when I could skrimp to get the ticket but could not afford the program. Would be interesting why he went from John to David. I wonder if it was because Jon English was getting pretty famous around that time?
