I like having my parents visiting, mazza. I went a year and three months without seeing any family at all (which was hell), and now I've seen them twice in four weeks, so all is well. I don't know if we an set up a Facebook account just for this... we might be able to, but I know of someone who was having some major issues with Facebook because they had a main account without their real name - I think they were told that they had to have a fan page attached to a real name. Drafts would be a good thing, always best to check and re-check! : And, yes, the aim would be to get as many members as possible to get support, but if we also have links and suggestions on how to go about our campaign, that would make the most sense. A lot of people will just join and not think about it any more, but some people will want to help fight for it. I have a feeling that a page like that can give other people some power to help share management. I'm just going to scope out some of the groups I've joined to see how they do that.

Sorry I'm a bit late to the convo, I've been reading over Fred's shoulder with all this but haven't gotten around to saying anything else. I don't mind the discussing of the FB page idea here, as it's all to do with Dr Zhivago, but I can see how this can easily start to over-run the thread and we need to concentrate on what the page is going to say. May I suggest a thread be created in the General section, perhaps, concerning the planning of the page?
EDIT: By the way, it's probably best not to create an FB account just for this page ((in the way that Freddus mentioned)). If anyone who wants in on this needs an account to get involved in, a personal account can do and a seperate page can be made up for this cause ((and for those fearing about putting real info on the net about themselves, most of the info is optional and profiles can be kept private)).
Plus, it's appearing hard to find whoever creates pages these days. If it shows anywhere, I don't mind being the name that shows up ((basically meaning, if some people decide that it's a silly idea and want to bitch and harrass someone, I'm ready to bare the brunt of it; I don't want anyone here to get harrassed)).

Did you join the Facebook page? If you help spread it around, maybe we'll be lucky and succeed.

We've got 25 likes and we're only in day ... what is it now, 3? 4? All in all, not too bad.
Plus I sent off an e-mail this morning to one of the contacts mazza found, so we'll see how they respond (probably automated)

Aww man... it's times like this when I put aside my fierce national pride and wish I lived in Australia. I just looked up more about Doctor Zhivago and I wish there was someway it could come to NZ or I could jump the ditch to see it. It looks fantastic. ;_;

Isn't that before the e-mail? *is an unreliable source as I was not subscribed at the time*
Tori, I'm so sorry it's not heading to NZ! If there was a cast recording of it I'd send you one.

I guess it'd have to spend a few years on Broadway or the West End before they even consider bringing it here.
"Hey Dad any chance we could go visit your extended family just out of Melbourne before the end of the week...?"
And I don't even have facebook. Is there any other way I can voice my support for the recording?

There's a twitter page for it, but no one's really following that. Anyway, that was a great show last night! I'm so glad we were able to see it ((I can't say thank you enough!)). I did find a lot of the "stand at the front and sing to the audience most of the time" thing a little odd, there were some occasions where they really could have just sung it amongst themselves, but the cast were in good voice ((Warlow didn't do his falsetto in "Now" though)) and it's a very confronting musical. Loved it to bits! I have to confess that from the font row ((one seat over from dead centre is "off to the side", jayko?! )) it was hard to see the graves, and I had to rise a bit to see Yurii clambering out of the hole ((I couldn't figure out what was going on until I did)), but it was a prime location to see the show. We were looking into the orchestra pit in the beginning to watch the musicians entering, determining how long there was left to go by which performers had yet to arrive. At interval people were trying to get past us to look in the pit too, as we'd gathered at the end of the aisle. I'm not making a very good review of the show, I know. I just don't know what to say. All I can think of to say is that it was very sad, very moving, and very, very beautiful. And afterwards, at curtain calls, there were standing ovations, streamers ((one final one before they left flew past Warlow's leg, which got some laughs)), and a wink from Warlow once he looked down where we were. The conductor appreciated my comment on her duck, too ((she had a small rubber ducky with Dr Z written on it [and something else that I can't remember] and she thanked me)). We managed to catch a few of the cast ((Fred was particularly happy with seeing Luke Joslin again)), including Warlow, who couldn't stay long because he needed to catch a plane to Sydney for the Annie launch. Got a short little vid of him saying hello to US which I'll upload later, and although he didn't kiss me this time, he leaned his cheek towards me for me to kiss! Very happy.

Haha! Sorry Mar, I didn't really realise how dead centre we were! I just thought "oh yeah, the 4 seats off the end of the middle section" but didn't realise there weren't that many seats in that row! It was great, and I am so glad that you and Fred enjoyed it I was thrilled to get a photo with Martin... that man is gorgeous! And he said he liked my hat. I was in heaven! ;D

Glad your all back in touch again. I missed you all over the weekend. I was so looking forward to meeting all of you as well as seeing the show so it was a double disappointment.
I’ve started making plans for Brisbane. Is anyone going to the last night? I would really like to meet up if possible.

Is anyone going on 31st? I'd love to meet up.

The quintet aka: When love finds you! Komrovsky singing 'it's a damn right inconvenience' Pasha singing about the war, Tonia singing about Yuri, Lara and Yuri singing together then they all move to the front of the stage and their eyes sparkle and the audience melts into their seats but are lifted up by the music in a wave of tears filled by the magic of the theatre . This is the massive build up into the pinnacle of the composition of Lucy Simon's work

I ... have lots to say, but my brain has (as usual) turned to mush. I was going to write down what I had to say at lunch so I could just copy it, but I got distracted with reading Silverthorn. Anyway, thank you so much to everyone who helped us get to Melbourne! I will splurt out everything I have to say in the next day or two.
