OMGTHEFORUMHASCHANGEDITLOOKSSOSTRANGEIDON'TKNOWWHAT'SGOINGONGAAAAAAH!
All panic aside, welcome to Unexpected Song, Proboards v5!
I've made this thread to help the members of my forum through the transition of US from what it was to what it is now. I apologise that I wasn't able to send out an e-mail to you about this in time, and I wouldn't have known that proboards had switched over our format in the past couple of days if Fredus hadn't told me ((I've been offline doing offline stuff)).
For the most part, you can already see that v5 isn't all too different from what we know, and using the forum shouldn't be all too complicated. There are some major differences which I'll cover with you today.
Added coolness is our Font Colour selection. No longer to we have to traverse the net or image alteration programs to find HEX codes for our favourite shades of grey ((my dog was 50 shades of grey before it became linked to porn)). We can type in whatever colour we like at the click of a button. Pretty cool, huh?
Next to the quote button we have what looks to be two smilie buttons. The regular smilie face button has standard ProBoards smilies in it, and I'm currently investigating how to insert our more special smilies into the forum ((I've done it on a test forum, so I just need to figure out how to do it again! I'll change this bit when I have)). Next to that there's a smilie face with a tiny hand over its mouth; we have the spoiler button!
It uses the same tags as before and I know it's not the green dot we're used to, but I couldn't pass up the oppertunity of installing a spoiler system to help re-cover up all of our previously covered spoilerage.
Now, there's a new button on the top-right of people's finished posts, next to quote, that FB users should be familiar with; we have a LIKE button. I suppose they thought it might be ... nice? Show a user you like their post when you're stuck for words and don't really want to write something pointless like "Agreed!" ... ?
Next to that button there's a post option's button, giving you the option to grab the post link, report the post, select the post ((I guess?)) and, I guess it'd just be for the post creator and / or staff, delete the post. You can also send the maker of the post a message or a gift via the post options button, or make the web page scroll back to the very top.
Above all that there's another new function next to the search bar; a drop-bar called Actions. You can bookmark the thread, share it on FB or Twitter and even go to the previous or next thread from there.
IN ALL TABS:
LEFT SIDE:
- View your lovely avatar, your name, your title and your stars.

- Other groups, eg. Global Moderator and Moderator, with all the other stuff as above.
NOTIFICATIONS:
- ((still working this out))
GIFT:
- Free Badges if you like Proboard on FaceBook! ... Seriously, I don't know why.

PRIVACY:
- Choose whether or not to have personal information such as online status, birthdate and e-mail visible to the public. The most private selection is "Share with Staff Only", if a forum has trusted and a small number of staff. You can even change your birthday if you got it wrong, and block unpleasant users from here ((take note that even if you block someone from talking to you on the forums, all posts can be seen by staff)).
NOTIFICATIONS:
- What you receive notifications on, from when someone likes your post, thread updates, follows you and all sorts. You can choose to receive these notifications by forum notice or by e-mail, as well as whether or not to receive the forum-wide e-mail.
BADGES:
- Badges you have
- Badges you don't have
- Where to buy badges from.
SEND MESSAGE:
With all the mod-cons of creating a thread or writing a reply post, Send Message has some extra features to make life easier.

RIGHT SIDE:

I think that about covers it!
Feel free to ask any questions if you think I've missed something. Play around and have fun!
