Question: do they mime the entirety of Phantom of the Opera? I know in different productions they sometimes sing live from when the boat appears. The "Sing for me"s have to be live, surely...?

Every time I've seen Ant do it he's sung it differently, so I'd say it's live (either that or I've really gone crazy)- the "Sing for me"s are definitely live!

I'm certain the first two verses (up to, "And though you turn from me...") are recorded -- I can't imagine them singing in the wings! -- but after that...
I also thought the cadenza (sp?) was recorded because it destroys Christine's voice if performed too often.

They mime for the whole time descending on the ramps ... because it's not really them. They're waiting in the wings on the boat, and when that comes out the recording stops.

But the music is always live, if you watch the orchestra. And you can tell which bits are recorded because the conductor puts earphones on!

Also, I had a Warlow dream last night. Forgotten most of it but for some reason the two of us were on stage and he said something that cracked me up. So there I was, tears of laughter streaming down my face, trying to look inconspicuous behind this pillar prop while Anthony stood there expectantly with this faint smile flickering on his face -- the kind one wears when trying to suppress laughter. But he was holding it together.
As usual.
I think it was my line (can't think of any other reason everything came to a grinding halt!) but I was in hysterics and couldn't deliver. I tried to fade into the background and may or may not have collapsed from the hilarity of the situation, literally rolling on the floor laughing. So yes, I was responsible for ruining the show. All the other details are lost in that after-sleep fog, but it was a damn good dream.
