Speaking of which, Ana recently added a new album for a birthday party that she, Alex and Guy Simpson had ((last night?)). Now, Ana's not on my friend list ((I've been too chicken to send a request)) but I'm just wondering, is Ana's birthday today or tomorrow ((or did we miss it))?
((BTW, look out for Roy on a stovetop.))

Does anyone have a clue to her genetic history? I'm trying to work out her heratige but I can't quite place it. Dunno if you ever found the answer to this one, but....as an extremely belated reply, I remember reading somewhere that she's of Swedish, Danish and German-Samoan descent and thus thinks of herself as a fruit salad or something to that effect! Sounds like an interesting (and in her case, successful!) mix www.nzherald.co.nz/opera/news/article.cfm?c_id=274&objectid=10537927&ref=rssJust had to add, as well as being a fabulous Christine (and now one of my favourite performers!), she did a wonderful job of the NZ national anthem at the netball game in Oct. I didn't realize it was her at the time (t'was pre-POTO for me), but I did one heck of a sigh of relief when I heard her singing it, coz we'd had some...erm...'interesting'....renditions of it a few games before that I remember discussing the extreme improvement with my flatmates and everything. Imagine my surprise and delight when I found out later on that it had been Ana ;D Actually I think said 'interesting' performance was during a game against Australia, so if any of you watch netball at all, you may just recall what I mean

Sadly 5 years' of forced participation in the sport have put me off from watching it ((although I do give a bit of a cheer to the Thunderbirds if I'm flicking channels, the netball is on and they're on the court)). Thanks for clearing that up chimaera! I'm horrible at identifying genetic traits in others. I suspect the people at Centerlink have the same problem; why do they treat me as if I don't even know what a telephone is?! On a side note, apart from the tracks Ana has on her side, it'd be really good if she released an album someday. I love her rendition of Someone Like You, it feels so open and when I sing along with her track I don't get as closed up as I do singing along to Linda Eder ((of course I still like Linda Eder's version too)). It's just a shame there isn't that much official material of her out there.

Oh you beat me to it, Nik! ;D Added it to my post for completeness anyways The Pacific community over here re-covered the same story a couple of times, placing much emphasis on the German-Samoan bit. I read the same slightly modified article three times (!) but the NZ Herald was the original source. Mar, I am also terrible at guessing people's ethnicities ;D. When my parents first saw Ana's picture in the program, they made the guess that she was part Polynesian; clearly that ability was not inherited by me

Thanks Nik! Interesting lighting, I feel tempted to hunt for my 3D glasses.
Oh, did we ever find out Ana's exact birth date?

Maybe if I mention to my friends in South Auckland that Ana's part samoan, maybe they'd warm to the show a bit

Awe, so cute. But she looks *way* hotter in the above photo with the blond hair Remind me to punch Richard in the face when I see him, on behalf of all single hetrosexual men on Earth...

I wouldn't say cute as much as smokin' And yes, no punching of Richard- we like to be on good terms with not only the cast, but their significant others also!

She's so gorgeous; and the straps on her arm are just a tease.

What's the point of them really? Decorative sleeves are usually really annoying...

Especially if they're made out of sequence and you have to lift your arms a lot ...

For the record, I'm not really complaining about the straps Though I did always wonder at them, looking at some of the pictures of the Christines and Megs, they look like they would be more annoying than anything else, especially given how much they have to dance around in them... At the same time, looking at Ana in that slavegirl outfit (who looks so hot in it I think I'm risking 3rd degree burns just LOOKING at the picture) I can't help but reflect that the guys like Kyle Stevens in the dance troop really have an awesome job...and perhaps I was too hasty when I gave up ballet after two lessons - taken as a kid just because my sisters took it and damn it, I was *not* going to be left at home those nights

Um, Mar, do you mean sequins?
And rogue, being a dancer myself I vouch for how annoying fake straps can be, especially when your arms actually have to go about shoulder level! However, they'd be made of elastic and the only really annoying thing is sequin rash.

^ I was about to say 'were you talking about sequins?' and you beat me to it!
I've never worn fake straps like that, but I was wondering if it just gave a permanent feeling that your bra straps were falling down? (Did that make sense, or am I rambling again?)

As those costumes are designed to be worn with no bra- the support is all built in- it would more likely just feel like something's not sitting right when you move your arms. You'd get used to it though, I had a rhythmic dress with a similar sleeve structure this year...

Ah, right. I suppose you can get used to anything - eventually....

You do- sequin rash, tulle rash, fake straps, tight shoes.... you adapt and get used to it. It's easiest when you're in them so often, as the Phantom cast are.

It is fun though, I mean, costumes are half the fun of performing!

It does look like fun. I've never got to wear cool costumes.
(I know that second sentence is horribly wrong, but I can't work out how to fix it. Apologies to anyone who has problems with bad grammer)
