That list only goes up to 04 though, so it's obviously been sitting there for a while without changes. I reckon there would be a handful more of recordings floating about from all sorts of casts around the world that aren't on that list; the way people are, I highly doubt the people that do these sorts of things would take a break for five years'!
It's rather brazen; to think that people were getting away with this sort of activity back in the early nineties is remarkable, considering the technology then; but maybe, as you said, this particular guy might have been in on it. Maybe there are some people from hundreds of shows that are in on it, who make up the community of people who trade these clips to other collectors. Nowadays I can see how it would be easier to get away with bootleg if you were part of the common throng, as almost everything has a recording device ((my iPod doesn't, I've discovered; how am I supposed to record my songs and song ideas now?!)), so I suppose almost anyone could be a part of that community, provided they know what to do and who to contact and so forth. That in itself, I'd imagine, is knowledge that's hard to get and I'd rather not pursue it.
Me, I'd rather buy the CD. It feels much better having an authentic copy of something that you can hold and cart about. And a neat little booklet to riffle through, and try to eliminate the fingerprints of ((why do I have so many black CD booklets?! They're such a pest to try and keep spotless!)).
Holy crap. I just noticed Gay Soper is in the 1st Studio Cast Recording! Why can't all these official cast recordings be available in every country? When I walk into a store I either see the Original London Cast, the Highlights from the Original Broadway Cast ((I think it said Broadway; it's the one-disc album where the entire show is played on a single hour'-and-a-bit track)) - which in itself is a bit of a rare find - and the 2004 Soundtrack. I'd like to get my hands on the other cast recordings as well, but surprise surprise, they're not sold here!
...
I feel like I've written a giant rant ...

^ But it's ok, because it was an interesting giant rant. It is much nicer to have the CD, but when that's not an option.... I wouldn't be brave enough to go in there with any kind recording device, but what I wouldn't give to have a recording. Dammit, we need more signatures!

I agree Marie-Cris, when I think back to "technology" then, I had visions of someone with one of those big reel tape recorders that weighed about 50kg ;D Mind you, mutter, cough, mutter perhaps my age is showing me up there. I wondered if perhaps he ran out of money buying up all these bootleg copies and/or going to see different shows around the world. Or maybe he's in jail having been caught by Mr ALW. There are obviously bootleg copies of the most recent POTO, it doesn't take much to find those, but I wouldn't call them good recordings by any stretch of the imagination. And I also agree, I'd rather buy it legitimately, I have no problem giving him money for it! If it were available!!!

To be honest, I'm surprised the lawyers haven't raped all of those YouTube users who have been slapping up bootlegs from the show yet. You'd think with it still on tour there'd be someone watching YouTube for these things as YouTube is a popular site and it's not hard to find law breakers on there. People watching and listening to illegal clips for free. Surely that has to make Webber pissed off at all the money that's being lost there BECAUSE the show hasn't got a legal copy concerning our cast. COULD I HAVE MADE MYSELF ANY MORE OBVIOUS?! SHORT OF BEATING [SOMEONE] OVER THE HEAD WITH A STICK?! ... Anyway, time to sift through the FB group again: Elliott Walker Hannah Jade Murray Joshua Oastler Blair Bennie Chris Vernon Kate Mckinley Liam Charles Bird Kareena Coral Connolly Chris King Amanda Hughes Lauren Mathew Georgia Thomas Jordan Walsh Hannah Rose Patterson 2250!

Wow. That was really loud. I heard it all the way over here. Very clear! Crystal! I'm surprised there is so much online, I would have thought most of it ( all of it) was a breach of a few laws. If he's astute enough to find this website (of course he is ;D), he must have seen that other stuff, surely? I wonder why he doesn't do something about it? Maybe he needs me to be his researcher, stomping my very heavy feet on all illegal Ant-tivity I'd turn to the dark side for Mr Warlow. Or would it be the light side? Heck, any side, I have no pride! ;D

And buy the iKaraoke- it attaches to your iPod and allows you to record.

iKaraoke! I'm intrigued...is it for normal ipods or that new itouch phone thingy?

Thanks for the explanation farmgirl.

I also found this link Mar which is another option, and from talking to my Apple freak doctor colleagues, what you need to get so you can record your music. The recommend the Griffin iTalk over the Belkin brand as well. iPod voice recordersYou should be able to pick one up at any large electronic store, or Apple store in the city. But according to this link, it's only compatible with iPhone and 2nd generation iTouch.

Ah yes, I had a Griffin iTalk for my super old iPod; was a bit peeved that it wouldn't work with the newer generation iPods. My only issue with those iPod recording devices is that the sound quality is really quite poor. I used to try record my morning lectures coz I used to fall asleep all the time, but found that the mic was just not strong enough to pick up the lecturer's voice particularly well. I ended up just not bothering. Perhaps they have been improved between then and now (it *has* been a good few years now). I suppose what you're using it for is important too as the one I had was...alright (still not great) at recording me playing the piano; still a considerable amount of fuzziness though. (Oh yeah, I think I read somewhere that the reason why they didn't put recording devices straight onto iPod was for copyright reasons; just coz everyone pretty much has an iPod and they didn't want carrying one around to certain places to be an issue. And I think it's for that same reason that the recording quality of the external devices like iTalk was never made to be superbly high. At least that's what I remember reading haha )

Mine's a 2nd gen iTouch so that'd work; but what I'm actually thinking of - and I've been thinking this for a few years' now - is getting something a bit more upmarket; something with a good quality playback ((I'm sure you've all heard the craptastic recordings on my MySpace [which seems to have momentarily been replaced by my Events calendar])). I need to set aside a little something now and again specifically for it, and maybe a little bit more to get Sibelius so I can attempt to print out computer-written ((in other words, NEAT)) copies of my music to put into one big folder I can draw out whenever I forget something ((which is often)) instead of having multiple sheets the one song lying all over the house ((it's bad enough I sometimes lose the lyric shreds I make up for my lyrics shoebox!)).
...
Damn my walls of text.

Your lyrics shoebox?

Post by Marie-Cris on Mar 20, 2009 20:41:38 GMT 9.5
... I'm sure I've explained this somewhere before. I have a shoebox where I keep the bits and pieces of lyrics that I write. Some things I've been able to put into songs, others are still a bit of a mystery. Mum once asked me if she could cut up the shoebox for her scrapbooking and I nearly had a fit.
