I think so! And yes, Gerry cannot sing... In America they were interviewing him as if he was the best thing since sliced bread... I cannot understand why... They haven't heard the REAL phantom... {^}_^)

I first saw the movie when I was overseas a couple of years ago and I actually turned it off, I couldn't stand his voice!! Only after I saw Phantom in Melbourne did I borrow it again to watch and I made myself sit through it. It just doesn't compare to the live show, and Ant is far superior!!

You're brave; I couldn't even sit through the menu again after seeing Ant.

^ I actually watched it a couple of nights ago too. I did, however, skip Music of the Night. That's just too painful.

I first saw it in October 2005 on an aeroplane... I was like 'what the hell'?
I then asked my mum if that was how it was supposed to sound... and she started laughing when she watched it.
It scared me...
When we saw Phantom last year for the first time in Sep, after we got home from our weekend in the city, my sister put the movie on. Yes, it is true, somehow we own a copy of it. I have tried to throw it out several times, but my sister always wonders why there is a dvd in a slip in the bin. The only reason I watched it was to see how it can be portrayed in film version... scenery and what not is nice... costumes are nice... singing is painful.
Oh yeah, my sister put it on... I heard her watching it from another room, went to her, and said 'why the hell are you watching this? It cannot be compared. Simply cannot compare.'
She liked it. She thought it was as good as Anthony. I slapped her arm. Then I turned it off.
My mum agrees with me.
My sister has the movie soundtrack...
Anthony is still better (well obviously)

I just wanted to see the story again after seeing it live, but then realised its better to fork out $100 to see the real thing!! Yeah music of the night was very painful, I don't know what was going through their heads when they were casting the role, he wasn't even famous at the time he did it. I can't stand it when people say their favourite phantom is Gerry (sorry if anyone on here thinks that), they have obviously never heard Ant in the role!! We need to re-educate!!

Steph, your sister is scary.
I hate it when I see posts by fan-girls gushing over Butler and the movie. Every time I see one I just think:
I wish this petition would work; I wish I could show them ...
... JUST HOW WRONG THEY ARE ...

Gerry just isn't right for the role... He sounds angry, and not very romantic. The movie has a more 'rock and roll' kind of sound to it, but Anthony is just magical I agree, it's better to pay another $100 to see it again, and that is exactly what I did. I decided that I wouldn't go to the cinemas for a while, because it will interfere with the aftermath of that aweing performance. I have stuck true to my word (for over a month), and it has worked! Oh she definitely is, I mean she saw Phantom with me both times, she cried (not as much as me though ) but she still likes Gerry's voice for some reason. Not as much as Anthonys, but I can't see why she would even like Gerry's. You have know idea how much I want this petition to work so much, it would literally make my dreams come true. I listened to the *cough* recordings *cough* on YouTube of him singing in it (the current season) and just remember back to those perfomances, and how much I want it to be properly recorded.

The only thing worse than Gerry fangirls are Gerik fangirls (who subsequently pass themselves off as Erik fangirls in general). It worries me that so many young girls are head-over-heels in love with him, completely enraptured by his "hotness" and want to have his children. Wake up and smell the coffee, girlies: the real Erik is a walking corpse who enjoys intimidating, manipulating and punjabbing people. He is a voyeur. He is obsessive. He has the social skills of a rock.
I pity Erik and adore his character but I can understand why Christine would be just a tad freaked out by him. When I see comments like, "ZOMG, gerry iz so hott!!1" I want to throw pointy objects at people.

oh you'd like my sister then, her comments during the movie her-"oooh gerald is sooo hot there" *shot of christine* "Christine looks pretty hot there too..." me- "you only think she's hot because she has big hair and eye make-up" her- "yeah?" There is hope however, our cat is named after emmy rossum, shes seen REAL phantom twice, even if one was with simon, and met Ant. I guess it evens out?

I'll admit, Gerik is easy on the eyes. But my Erik is a horribly disfigured madman and I like him that way.
If your sister prefers the stage-show then that's okay. I just despise all those squealing 14-year-olds who want to have Gerik's babies. x.x

^ Especially as one of the beliefs of cannibalism is that you take on the "intelligence" of your victim, so we would all become....Gerik Fangirls, trying to pass ourselves off as hardcore Phans. Which they are NOT.
Maybe we should start standing in Burke Street Mall and shouting the praises of Ant....

Mine is beginning to wear down- just slightly- so I'm storing tip down, as per instructions, in a nice quite spot until BAM it comes out in Sydney!
Although Ant might be using his own then, like how Simon should be using the one Loz and I gave him...

Look, I just stumbled upon an example of the dreaded Gerik Fangirl. In her profile at deviantart she's filled out this quiz thing:
"If You Had a Genie, What Would Your Three Wishes Be: 1)Meet Gerard Butler 2)Have Gerard Butler luv me 3)Stay wither Gerry for ever and ever  yes I'm a warped girl."
I wish I was joking.
