Anyone seen it? it was the first phantom i ever saw and I absolutely fell head over heels for Gerard Butler!!  he hasnt necessarily got the BEST voice but hes a pretty dang good actor and Emmy Rossum, well all I can say is i like her best as Christine, her voice and her acting are pretty good i think, especially when she was only 16 years old!!!  i dont have much experience or idea about opera and singing and i dont no all the big names but i think if ud put Anthony Warlow and Emmy Rossum together to make the film it would just be well THE BOMB! i guess? lol but i dont no i just cantget over emmy rossum, theres just some innocence about her and her voice that I really like.. But of course after seeing Anthony, live!  well u cant really compare them becas Anthony just absolutely blows u away! Definitely voice wise AND acting wise!!!!! Sheeesh hes amazing!!! so im not comparing the stage show and the film, because u cannot possibly but i was just wonderin if u guys liked the movie version?? and u can chat about anything related to the movie version of phantom here so yeahh. do u guys like the movie version? do you that casting Gerard Butler as Phantom a good idea? Emmy Rossum?? i dont no i was just interested on what u guys think of the movie version!  |

I really liked the movie, except for Gerard's singing... arrrrrrrrrrrr painful! His acting of the role was quite good, but he just can't sing! Why would they give a singing/acting part to a performer who is not a singer? It really did detract from the movie (for me anyway!), I cringed everytime he sang. I have to admit he was a very sexy Phantom, but his portrail was not as sympathetic as Anthony's. Ant gives Eric much more depth and shows his humanity much better than Gerard. Gerard did not portray Eric's sadness and insecurity any where near as well and Anthony. I agree with you that Emmy is wonderful, I loved her singing and thought her acting was exceptional in someone so young.

lol yeahh i no, although Gerards appearance suited the Phantom (he he he!) though i dont think he was talented enough acting wise and singing wise. And Gerard compared to Anthony Warlow, well u cant really compare them. Anthony just has so much more passion and I feel he really connects with the Phantom in a way and it just makes the performance so much more *thud2* amazing! if u no what i mean.. yeah after I saw Ant as Phantom I knew ther was no better.. I don't no what Michael Crawford was like or any others other then Gerard and Anthony but Ant tops the list easy. wouldnt it be soooo awesome if they did a filmed stage show?!!! gaarrrh!  |

I don't think Anthony would have any objection to a DVD of the show, he's said in a few interviews that he likes to have things recorded for posterity. But I don't think it's likely to happen... much as we all would love it  I hope they at least give us a cast recording! |

This is what i have heard on another message board (clearly not this one) That there can be no further cast recordings done for phantom dur to a contract between Michael Crawford and RUG. This is what i read (from a mod at this board), whether it is correct im not sure, but oh well. We all hope that it is filmed. But if you go to this site contact the guy and try to get some of his DVDs of different stage shows ( there is lots of good phantom ones there Gary Mauer, Brad Little, John owen-jones, Hugh Panaro etc) xoxgraphics.blogspot.com/have a look Josh |

aaww sweet! thanx for posting! cool website! yeahh hopefully its not true! i was talkin to some friends about how crawford has or could have signed a contract with the RUG and the only thing we could come up with is that he was worried someone else might be better then him and he wouldnt want them to have the ability to make another cast recording. but i dont no. hopefully its just a rumor! thanx for posting ur site though! il prob be a regular on ther now! cheers! |

I'll give Crawford one thing, he was the first person to do the whole show and for that we have to be thankful. But Warlow is better and i hope that this becomes a reality so that Aussie have a recording of the greatest phantom of all time..........
