Ok, Lets share the love here and stop hijacking poor Alex's thread and give Simon Burke his own. From PS to Sound of Music to being FPAEA..(Federal President of Actors Equity Australia) this man can do and has done alot. [a href=" "] [/a] [a href=" "] [/a] as Mr Lizard in The adventures of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie( i think..)his website is HERE

He's also the awesomest of awesome hosts at the Concert at the House Christmas gigs. He makes one hell of a kangaroo during Six White Boomers.
I believe i have a PS record stashed away somewhere, from back when he first joined with the ye old crew of Noni, John, Brigetta, George..... he was so young! He had a lovely storytime voice....

I loved watching Simon on Play School when I was a kid; it's just not the same without him.

He was on The Alice - wasn't he? I quite liked that show, until they moved it to insanely late times of the night.

I was always terrified he'd turn up on something like McLouds Daughters but thank goodness, it never happened! *did it?*

Not that I've seen, but Reece Horner - the guy who was my sister's partner for their high school formal ((not dating, just partners for the night)) - is still on McCloud's Daughters; caught a glimpse of him last night in their musical episode.
It's still rather odd that the character of Moira is the only original character left in the show. Reece is original to a point; he was working behind the scenes for most of the beginning, then got several slots of screen time ((with lines)), though I think he's faded into the background again.
...
Sorry Simon.

He's very cute, quite pretty blue eyes too. I presume if he was Marius in Les Mis and Captain Von Trapp in TSOM, then he can obviously sing quite well too. I wonder if he's available ;D and likes farm girls and the NZ countryside? ;D ;D I'm guessing no...

Maybe you could browse his website?
I really wish he'd been Marius on the CSR of Les Mis ... Sorry but Michael Ball irks me.

Sorry but Michael Ball irks me. ;D Well, I only have time to be fan of one Australian singing sensation really, so I'll choose Mr Warlow ;D. I agree about Michael Ball. He always sounds a little bit.. pompous? I'm not sure what the right word is, but it is annoying.

He's cute and funny, his Raoul is gorgeous, and I can never watch his A Little Fall Of Rain without collapsing into floods of tears. I've only heard him sing as Marius and Alex (Aspects of Love), and I'll admit I did quite like him in those roles. But years ago they played a TV series from the UK where he was host and interviewed other actors/singers and that's when he started annoying me. Everything he sang sounded the same. And then I heard Mr Warlow sing "Love Changes Everything" and decided why would you bother listening to anyone else sing it? I had to delete Michael's version off my MP3 player! But getting back to Simon.. Um yes, cos we got in trouble for hijacking Alex's thread, so started Simon's thread and now we're hijacking that talking about Michael. Oops!!! ;D

^ Welcome to US. Where we're notorious for trashing threads in their infancy. I guess it's all these handsome, blue-eyed, voices-like-angels men who are just so damn distracting. How can we fight it? ;D And just to thrash this thread some more.. ;D Is it some kind of pre-requisite for Australian singers to have piercingly gorgeous blue eyes?

I guess it's only fair that Alex gets to hijack some of Simon's thread now, isn't it? XD Aha! Got it, this is revenge of the Alex fans ;D Have had a look for any clips of Simon singing, but couldn't find any that seemed recent. Bugger. And we never had any PlaySchool presenters who looked anywhere as good as Simon.

Our Aussie kids have been awfully spoiled. Philip Quast and Simon Burke in PlaySchool ... ...although I still maintain they made a horrible mistake when they didn't give Anthony the PlaySchool gig!Seriously, Philip Quast too? If I was a parent then, I'd have spent my whole time watching out for Playschool! ;D

If we're doing embarrassing confessions about The Man From Snowy River - I used to make horses out of lego (a rectangle and a square stuck together. Very lame, I know) and use them to act out the movie as I watched it.
I really need to hunt down a copy of that...

Here's a PS question that makes me ponder; we all know old school Playschool with the gang of more mature-aged presenters (John = made my day), then there was middleground Playschool (when they really started to introduce a multicutural focus and people such as Jai and Deborah were on there) and these days there's the utterly new-look Playschool with no theme song, no one you can recognise and no rocket clock. So.... i'm thinking, was Simon one of the only presenters to have lasted through from one phase into the next? Was he one of the longest-running PS people for our generation?

I think he was; he was there when I was little and I remember catching glimpses of him years' later. Can't remember how old I was, possibly pre-teen? Maybe even early teen, I don't know.
