I wonder where did she get that gay idea from......his background or it's just because of there're too many gays in this field?
By the way, think I've read an earlier interview where he answered to a question of what's his opinion on homosexuals, and he just said something along the line of " It's something that I am not but some of my dearest friends in this industry are..." and more, which I cannot recall at the moment.

Maybe it's just her idea of a not very clever put down?? And because you react so much when she says it!!!! Or maybe she truly does find him attractive and saying what she says is designed to make you think she doesn't. Anyhow, it's not worth worrying about. It always makes me a little perplexed that people will use sexual orientation as a put down. Who gives a toss!!!! It doesn't define who you are, it is just merely one facet in the whole multi-faceted creation that is an individual.

I think it stems from the human race's deep-seated belief that sports is "manly" but acting, singing, hairdressing, clothes design etc. is "gay". It's sad that creative blokes get such a bad rep just because they don't fit the "butch" stereotype.
I don't understand how people can be so nasty towards homosexuals. The few I know are nothing but beautiful, caring individuals.
@ Mar: lol, no need to apologise. I've got a bad habit of catastrophising things. XD

Lucky you meeting John Bowles, Phantomangel! A few people I've met aren't that keen on him as an actor, I on the other hand thinks he looks like a very kind person and I thought he was great as Raoul! Was he nice?

The same thing happened to steamroller's avatar and and cinta's sig ages ago; probably just a compatibility thing ((I tend to use PhotoBucket and TinyPic)).

Phantomangel, that's a lovely pic of you and John. He was nice and polite and such to Cinta and me... possibly coz we were the first to approach him (or anyone, coz he came out first) that night, so mabye he felt all honoured (i mean, we ARE dam cool, so the fact that we felt him worthy of our attention says a great deal... *cough*)

Yes, if you do - you must say the key line "you're lovely" to him - coz he'll be all sweet and respond with "aw, you're lovely too" and then if you're a dope like me you'll get all giggly in secret, hehe!

So Sandy and I met up after the show and she informed me Saturday's was slightly better so I'm pretty pleased about seeing the best of the best. We stood around the front door for a while. Not a single soul of note exited. Eventually, a pair of security guards slipped out and made a beeline for Little Bourke St. We just exchanged glances and set off in pursuit.
A few more minutes passed during which I admired a certain car with leather upholstery and then who should appear but the man himself. It was a very Red Death entrance; he had to descend these warped stairs/ramp. Naturally, we fans were spotted a mile away. He turned up that cheeky grin a few notches and expressed some words of greeting, telling us to hang on a tick while he put stuff in his car. Straight away he apologised for having to make the fanservice quick because he had to be in Fitzroy at 6:30, which only gave him about 20 mins after he was done with us. Speed limits may have been broken. XD
So after a brief hello and, "Did you enjoy the show?" and the uttering of "darling"s, we eventually got 'round to the obligatory autographs:
Anthony: "I'll have to make this quick. Did you bring silver pens?" Us: "Yes!" Anthony [grins]: "Good girls."
I didn't get the chance to pin him down (with words!) because he was in such a rush. For the same reason photos weren't a go either, but I'm so over the moon having met him I just want to... I don't know. Spontaneously combust from sheer happiness or something.
(Stealing your thunder, Sandy, but this is what happens when you go to the tennis after an enc-Ant-er. XD)

It was pretty thrilling but in a way I didn't expect. He makes you feel so comfortable -- even me, who's prone to getting the jitters over things like this, I felt I could talk to him for hours on end. There's something extraordinary in how ordinary he is, if that makes sense.
(Well, "ordinary" off-stage. I'm relatively certain he's a god when performing.)
