Is anyone planning to go to the Sydney run who hasn't got tickets yet? Through utter failure on my part, I can no longer go, so selling off my tickets. I have two tickets to the first performance on Feb 11, stall seats, and I wanted to check on here before I try ebay or elsewhere. If anyone's interested please PM me, above anything I just don't want them to go to waste (first show!! <sniff>). Thanks. Joyce

Lamentably, chauvelin, I haven't got a snowball's chance in hell of making it to Sydney for Zhivago.
(I'm still trying to work out how I'm going to get to NSW in March for my nephew's christening. *sigh*)
We're aiming to get to the Melbourne run.

I would if I could, but I'm a technical dunce - sorry. I didn't know he'd been offered a part in Mary Poppins! Pity that he turned it down, that would have been awesome.

Thanks for the heads up. Loved the article and photos of Anthony when he was a young man in Community Theatre. Would have loved this to have been on high quality glossy paper as tha quality of the photos is not great but still well worth it.
Apparently he will also be in Limelight magazine this month.
Did anyone watch the New Years Show on Channel Nine. I must confess I did not as I was at a party but I have been trying to find a video of Anthony and Lucy singing "Now" at the Lord Mayor New Years Eve Party and the best I could find is where they were interviewing the Jersey Boys and you could hear Anthony singing in the background. What were Channel Nine thinking?

Only a couple of days to go. BTW, does any one have Ovation Channel?
Ita Writes Like many of you I’m sure, I have always enjoyed Anthony Warlow’s musical theatre performances. Although he made his debut with Opera Australia when he was 19, it wasn’t until 10 years later that he made his name in the role of the Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera. His portrayal was thought to be one of the best in the world. I saw Michael Crawford in the role in the London production and he was superb, and I was lucky enough to attend the opening of Phantom in Melbourne. Anthony’s performance was electrifying and not surprisingly his portrayal won him many well-deserved awards. Now he’s been asked to create the role of Dr Zhivago in the musical of the same name and the show is having its much anticipated world premiere at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre in February. So what’s it like to create a musical role that no one has ever played before and what else is on the agenda for Anthony Warlow? Join me for Up Close and Personal this month and find out.

I don't know how many people from here attended, but from what I've caught from some who did, it seems the performance on Friday night only lasted for around 30-40 minutes. Warlow tore a calf during rehearsals and the understudy - who had only arrived in Australia a few weeks before? - filled in. I've heard good things about what was shown though, and I'm hoping to scrape up enough money to see it at some point. Maybe someone who was there could step in and tell a bit more in detail about the night?

I was there on the Friday night. It was a shock when they announced Anthony had torn a calf muscle. Felt so sorry for the poor guy! He came on stage after John Frost and Des McAnuff had been on to explain what happened. He pretty much told everyone to come back and see it with him in the role rather than get a refund. XD
It was disappointing that they could only do 30 mins of the show. I would have thought they would have gone through the marks with the understudy (this was apparently the reason why they couldn't do the whole thing). Having said that, what we did see was promising! The ensemble were great, the music was nice, the lyrics were relatively good, and the understudy (Anton Berezin) was amazing. His voice isn't as rich as Anthony's, but he has a great voice and can hit the notes. The set was okay, nothing too special. I wanted to see more snow. XD Oh and they had these material backdrops that showed pictures which were just weird... not sure why they need to put a naked projection of the Lara character up there... I personally got the message through the song and pretty sure most other people did too! And no, no naked projection of Anthony either... XDDDDDD
We went again on the Saturday night, got to see the whole show and again it was great. We didn't have as good seats as the night before unfortunately, but it was still good to see the whole thing. I wasn't really looking forward to the musical after reading the book, but they did a good job with the story. They left out a lot of things I disliked in the book, which made it more enjoyable for me. Overall I liked the musical. I have tickets for Melbourne so looking forward to seeing Anthony in the role!

And no, no naked projection of Anthony either... XDDDDDD One could only hope! I, too was at the friday show and saturday matinee/night show aswell . I did write a review a few days ago but my computer decided to go into bitch mode and froze! grrr. Anyway, Mark and I had really bad seats at the matinee! PLEASE NOTE= IF YOU INTEND ON GETTING THE CHEAP RESTRICTED VIEW SEATS ON THE SIDE , CHOOSE THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE STAGE TO SIT ON OTHERWISE YOU WON'T SEE MUCH OF THE SHOW! I loved the show and really can't wait to see Anthony in the role...although I wouldn't mind seeing Anton do it again either...He is not Mr Warlow and shouldn't be compared to him either.... he did give it one hell of a crack and I really wasn't disappointed at seeing him perform, (he did a fantastic job aswell)...only when the initial shock of Anthony NOT performing wore off, of course!! I swear Sydney/Lyric Theatre/Anthony Warlow is jinxed for me...It happened to me at Phantom in 2008! Shall go now with "Now" stuck in my head ....... and an image of Anthony's naked projection. THANKS JESS

The family are taking me early on the 21st of April to see the show!!!! it's probebly because no one is going to be around for my 18th now good on them, I blame school for inventing excursions during May. But keep in mind thats less time to wait to see the show

I got the chance to see Doctor Zhivago on saturday night. I absolutely loved it. I had 4th row so could look right into Anthony's eyes. I am considering going again tomorrow night before the show leaves Sydney on saturday. I am worried that if the show takes off to Broadway and the West End that we wont be able to see Ant again for many years so I should just see him while I can.

Highly recommend going as many times as possible herfooness ((welcome to Unexpected Song, btw!)). From all the rave it's most likely he will end up travelling overseas for quite a while.
Congrats on winning, Shak! Are you getting the poster framed or does it come pre-framed?
I'm glad everyone's having such a good time with Zhivago, and I hope those who have yet to see it have a good time also! I'm anxiously hanging out for the cast recording, for sadly, with funds as they are, Fred and I will never be able to see it ((live, at least; though what are the odds of a DVD for a brand new musical? Slim?)).
Anyway folks, keep posting reviews; we're all hungry to hear everything about the show ((all who can't attend, not just Fred and I)) so we're living vicariously through you ((so make sure you all have a doubley good time! XD))
