I ended up going again but this time I was back row in the grand balcony. It was still great though. I'm glad I went. Is there any talk yet of it going to Broadway?

Dr Zhivago's Opening Night in Melbourne was AMAZING!!! Warlow was brilliant as always, I just wish I was closer! I had seats where I could touch the sky and I also had another very tall man sit infront of me on he was leaning forward and moving in his seat like he had ants in his pants ( don't go there )and his big boofhead covered half of my sight of the stage. Grrrrrrr! So I moved at the interval to seats where I could chat to God! The show was actually a lot better than Sydney I guess they were still ironing all the kinks out...ANT himself has said that Sydney was the preview and Melbourne was THE GRAND OPENING!! Will be going again on Tuesday and I can't wait! Eb and Jess sorry I didn't come say goodbye at the end of the show I ended up in the alley and was walking with some oldies to the carpark...and I saw safety in numbers!

Za Vas!
I watched the final Melbourne dress rehearsal, scored Anton and was incredibly impressed. He was strong in voice and his acting had 99% of the staff convinced he was the lead.
Also worked second preview- got Warlow, same as usual. One audience member commented he appeared to be in fine voice, and I had to agree after the way he left off Phantom. The show is tediously long to stand through- appreciate your seats!
The cast are all friendly welcoming people, although some of the rules set by ~producers and cast~ are a little ridiculous. There is a lot about the show I would change, but a lot I enjoy. If you're seeing it in Melbourne let me know and I'll tell you if I'm *on* for that show.
Cheers Comrades.

I was supposed to be working Tuesday but due to *ticket sales* they've closed a level and I lost my shift.
I miss MPops right now, I didn't get cancelled for that!

Right... Doctor Zhivago....What to say.. Oh my dear god, that was the most amazing experience of my life, family took me to Melbourne, walked in, breathed a sigh of relief when I saw his name on the performance board. The start was played out very quick, making it difficult to follow if you haven't read the book. The big man came on stage.....first time I cried He has lovely flowing movements in his arms (whoops trailing off) That Yurii is such a player leading on a girl like that, married to another. The dance was ablsaloutly AMAZING!!! They sang watch the moon as he went off to the war ..... 2nd time the end of the first act as they caught the train, my god there is some amazing use of stagecraft and mechanics, magnificantly directed, they left Markel behind ........that was my friend Shaun 3rd time We walked up to the front to see how low the seats are to the stage so we won't be looking at their feet for my birthday. 2nd act when Yurii goes....somewhere 'cough' and the crazy chick 'cough' wow heat stopper, my heart was with you mate 2nd last scene when he Lara finds him ............once again and when 'cough' and he 'cough' by the final scene i was a wreck, my heart had scampered off to the stage and sat with him on the desk I could not stop crying his performance was breath taking. I heard the voice break a few times though mate hehe pushed the chest voice a bit far and missed the falsetto, but carried it off. I assume everyone knows when he hits the big notes and sends shivers up your spine, unfortunately there was only one and that's his signature move you would of thought Lucy Simon would put a few in there just coz he's amazing. Caught Shaun Murphy, Martin Crewes, Lucy Maunder, Taneel Van Zyl, but no Anthony. He had nicked off quick, so I left a pressie for him with the people at the stage door, it's a sort of inside joke about art

It's not a ticket *sale*- they're trying to fill it. We're losing shifts- a lot. It's selling, and making profit, but it's not filling a 1700 seat theatre, not by a long shot.
And as with Phantom, Anthony doesn't come out of stage door. He arrives early (we were standing around before my shift started at the water cooler) and leaves the theatre quickly. As a side note, the ushers don't care who's left and who hasn't, so please don't ask us when we're leaving- we just want to get home!

Why doesn't he go out the stage door?

Because he doesn't want to? I mean, after what's happened previously I don't really blame him for going another way. Sometimes he does, often he doesn't.

He got mobbed at the last performance of Phantom in Sydney, which was pretty painful to watch. No injuries but a large crowd. Probably gets a bit tedious being stopped by fans for a chat all the time, especially after a show when he's tired and wants to get some rest. I think he likes talking to fans but on his terms otherwise he feels a bit hunted.
And, er, Bec... it is a sale. Dictionary definition is, "A special disposal of goods at lowered prices". It is a sale to try to fill the theatre.

Eb and Jess sorry I didn't come say goodbye at the end of the show I ended up in the alley and was walking with some oldies to the carpark...and I saw safety in numbers! No worries! It is usually a mad rush to get out of there anyway. It was a fun night and good to catch up. I was so tempted to get those tickets they had on sale, but had other plans unfortunately! How was the show? Who was on? Most shows don't fill a theatre so it really isn't a big surprise. Even something as popular as Wicked had to close a level because they couldn't fill it. Unfortunately that's the nature of the business. As Eb said, he got completely mobbed in Sydney for the final Phantom show and I think he always has people waiting for him. Even in Melbourne for Phantom there were people usually waiting for him at stage door, even when they hadn't actually been at the show. It is understandable that he would want to avoid having to do that after every single show.

Pretty much the same as Phantom before he started taking matinees off? Perhaps?
((Don't listen to me, I don't know, I'm only making a guess))
