Course not. Especially when credits are involved. It's been raining all day so I'm spending lunchtime in the Composition Lab.

Here is my latest draft for the flier just incase we go ahead. I have made all the references to Australia and Australian bold. The heading and slogan are also bold and larger font. I have used the wanted poster (hope that's OK) so the text wraps around it and the whole doc is justified. It prints on A5 so we get two copies per sheet. How many do you think we might need? I was looking a 1000(500 sheets). I will only go ahead if I can make arrangements to get them to Melbourne either someone taking them or if I can organise to get there myself. Currently I'm looking at the overnight bus as that stops near home. A flight on Sunday morning would mean getting up at 3:30 to 4:00 and getting someone to drive me there. It's all up in the air at the moment as there are a number of things I have to do before I can even think about buying a ticket and booking transport. Tomorrow is probably the deadline ************************************************** Wanted: Dr Zhivago Australian Cast Recording Today will be the last Melbourne performance of DR Zhivago by this wonderful Australian cast, after a short run in Brisbane this Australian production will be lost. The producers of this show advertised and even took orders for an Australian Cast Recording however they have decided NOT to go ahead with it. A great many people are very disappointed by this decision. After you have seen and heard this outstanding Australian show (whether this is the first or twentieth time) we’re sure you will also feel disappointed that there is no Australian Cast Recording. All too often we have seen great shows in Australia, performed and presented by very talented and dedicated Australians, but we are denied Australian Cast Recordings. This spectacular show premiered in Australia. The producers made this decision based on the availability of world class performers here in Australia and also for financial reasons as setting up costs are significantly lower here than in the US or UK. This epic show has enjoyed huge success thanks to you the Australian public. All we ask now is for the producers to give us what they promised. An Australian Cast Recording. This show is a very important part of Australian musical theatre history and as such should have a permanent recording to take its place in our national archives. The decision to cancel the Australian Cast Recording has never been fully explained by the producers. If you would like to join the campaign to get an Australian Cast Recording of Dr Zhivago you can find us at : www.facebook.com/pages/Wanted-Dr-Zhivago-Australian-Cast-Recording/151675218238342 You can leave your comments and see those of others who also feel disappointed and let down by the producers. You will find links to articles regarding this awesome show. You can also contact the producers at info@gordonfrostorganisation.com and make your feeling known. Please support or campaign and ask: “WHERE”S OUR RECORDING?” *************************************************************

Ah, sweet as. Thanks!
I downloaded the two songs and DAHMYGAWD axeing the recording would be like banning Rugby in New Zealand. They're robbing us blind! Even releasing the full recording for digital download would be better than nothing.

I wouldn't hold your breath. I sent an email last week but haven't even gotten an acknowledgement. But we must keep going until the last hope is gone. I'm going to look at the National archive angle to see if we can use that to put some pressure on them. Even if we only get a digital download it would be better than nothing.

Okay, thanks, mazza. I was kind of wondering if anyone else had gotten a reply.
And I agree, a download is better than nothing. Hopefully they might at least give us that.

I've had a quich look and the National film and sound archive and I'm sure we could use this angle to put extra pressure on getting a recording. They have all sorts of things including the latest AC-DC album and the Iron Man 2 movie.
edit: Just thought has anyone let Anthony or the rest of the cast know what we're doing. If so has there been any feedback?

( <3 AC/DC btw)
All you lot seeing the show should go stagedooring and tell the cast. I also had another thought: I dunno if this has been done already, but perhaps US could send out a special newsletter to everyone who used to be active here, alerting them of our campaign. I'm sure they'd all get behind the cause.

Sorry I couldn't make it on Sunday we are still recovering from the storm on Monday and I had everything planned to make the trip then the quotes started to come in for the repairs and I felt guilty leaving my husband to cope with everything. Still never mind I will be able to make Brisbane all being well. Did anyone mention the campaign to Anthony or the rest of the cast?
Mar Before you say it I'll say it for you. OMG what an awesome show!!!!!!!!

@ tori: I've been meaning to send out a newsletter, and after talking with Ant last night, I know what other info to put in it now (only slightly related to Zhivago, but there's good news!)
@ mazza: I'm sorry you couldn't make it! It seems that what what Jayko meant when she told us our seats were "front row, off to the side" were really "front row, one seat over from dead centre!" It truly was amazing, but I'll write more on that in the DZ thread.
EDIT: About letting the cast know, to be honest, I was so caught up in the hype it slipped my mind. And since Ant was in a rush to get to Sydney I didn't want to detain him too much.

Mar so glad you enjoyed it, but then how could you not enjoy anything with Anthony in.
Personally I think he should release an album of recipes to well know tunes (like the banana recipes from Spicks and Specks). It would make all my cooking even more enjoyable and I might start following the recipes instead of making things up. (Or I could just listen and cook something else anyway). People don't really appreciate the skill and talent it takes to sing different words to a tune. It is yet another example of the treasure Anthony is to all of us.
I'll stop rambling now, sorry, I'm still so upset at missing Sunday, but I'm so glad you got to see DRZ, now on with the campaign.
EDIT: Did you have a chance to look at the URL option. It would be a way of getting our location to people easier and we may get some more hits when people search for DR Zhivago generally. It would be best to choose a name that would result in hits on Google searches and like. So if we could include reference to Dr Zhivago and Australian Cast Recording. What do yo think?

Made this a new post so you don't have to read my ramblings again
I think we have all been sending our emails to the info address at Frosts. I’m not sure how many have been sent or when but it is easy for them to ignore a few emails. Perhaps if we could get larger numbers and sent repeatedly. Sending the same email everyday or even more often.
I found the email address for one of the American producers. I wondered if we started to get people to send him emails. It would be good if we could get a lot of people on board. Perhaps prompting them with messages via the FB page suggesting a more organised approach. We now know that DRZ has turned a tidy profit for the producers perhaps we can shame them into changing their minds.
roger.v.coleman@mssb.com
Found the new Korean producer Chun Soo Shin odmusical@gmail.com
There are a number of new producers listed on the DRZ site including Powerarts we could add comments on their FB Page. I can keep looking for other producers’ details or FB to add comments to. It could make quite an impact if we can get other people to make comments. It may have more impact than emails.
There will be new people looking at the DRZ FB because of the move to Brisbane. It would be good to keep putting comments on the DRZ FB from our page to keep it in view on the wall for new visitors.
I’m still willing to do the fliers when I go the Brisbane at the end of July if anyone thinks its worthwhile, perhaps we can wait and see what happens. August is so busy for us it’s unlikely I can get away for the last night.
EDIT I have added some links on the FB page for Anita Waxman, Mirvish Productions and PowerArts. there has been a bit of activity today with more likes where up to 94.
EDT EDIT: Quite a bit of activity lately. Whe're up to 105 likes. Over the last day or so we have actually gained more likes than the DRZ FB in the same period.

From an AussieTheatre article: "Fans of the show were disappointed to hear recently that the planned Original Australian Cast Recording was not going ahead. The on-again-off-again recording saga was to be produced by Warlow as a live album 'off the stage'. The initial plan was to record several performances and take the 'best of' for the album. Unfortunately, as Warlow explains, due to illness in the cast and time limitations, the devastating decision was made not to produce the album. “Time restraints made it virtually impossible. As we had only a limited time in each state, we really would have had to record it in Sydney when we started, and it wasn’t even on the cards then because it was so new.” "If there is a recording, it will probably be the London cast", he said. But why can't it be recorded in Brisbane?! *sigh* On the upside, London cast would be better then Broadway cast.

How disappointing it looks like our fabulous Australian cast are not going to get the recognition they deserve. Hopefully Anthony will be on any future cast recording. I will put a link on the Wanted page just to keep people up to date.

I totally agree. I'm so annoyed and angry and disappointed. It's horrible for us, but it must be awful for the cast as well. They created the roles and they don't get any recognition for it. I don't understand why Australia doesn't get their amazing performances recorded. It's just really, really sad.

I know what you mean. It's very sad for the cast that started it all. I have made a comment on the FB page regarding that. I must admit I am surprised we are still getting new likes (123). I eased off on putting too much on the DR Z FB as it looked at one stage that our page was hi-jacking it.
I think it is probably just too late to do a recording, they would be looking for front of house sales to provide the majority of sales to recover cost. It is annoying because anything with Anthony is going to sell big time. Just ask poppy she would pay big bucks for a recording of him gargling. Come to think of it I would do the same myself.
I did make referrence to only looking at front of house sales in the email I sent to Frost. I didn't get a response.
I wonder if the comments Anthony made in the recent article were to draw fire from the producers. I hope they haven't made him "fall on his sword" to take some of the heat of them. I must admit for him to have produced a live recording whilst developing the role, performing upto 9 times a week and being on stage for almost the entire 2hr and 50 mins is a heavy workload.
I suppose if the sheet music were available that would be a help. I just can't remember all the songs. It might also prompt me to play the piano better as well.

Hey, at least we tried, right? I'm sure it warmed the hearts of the cast, knowing they had such a great backing by fans like you guys.

To be honest, the most I ever hoped to get was an explanation as to what was really going on. This seems to be the most they'll let on, and I'm happy with that. Okay, not entirely, but the statement is pretty much what I was expecting to hear as a "full" explanation.
Just watch them release the "original" cast recording for London or Broadway. I'm glad the producers have acknowledged the disappointment and responded. With that, I'm going to pull the banner down from here and end my involvement on the page. I'm not willing to delete the page, I'd rather it stay there as a part of history, but I'm not going to be campaigning for an ACR anymore. Not to say that I don't want one, I still think it's sad that they couldn't get one done, I'm just not going hang out for one realistically anymore.

I wondered what you thought of keeping the page. I'll keep an eye on it as well. I don't really like the explanation, it just doesn't add up. I think when the various explanations and theories are pieced together a clearer picture evolves. I think I will keep the rest of my thoughts to myself as I'm too angry about it all at the moment.
