...starring Anthony, what character would you like him to play?
The board has been too quiet, so I think we need some new topics.
It could be either characters that have been portrayed on screen before or literature figures coming to mind.
I haven't got many specific ideas for now, but for some unknown reason I could see him as Mr. Darcy in Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice. Might come up with more later. Now I just leave it here to you. Ideas?

Oh, this is a great idea Belle! and i am so sorry i have not been a very attentive or supportive mod of late. Really, i am. Feel free to pelt me with abusive pms!
Hmmm.... a film with Ant... i would have loved to see him do Daddy Warbucks onscreen... and in fact, i think he would have made a very powerful film Phantom, if they had been game enough to go with a wider age difference between him and whoever played Chris. (not that i'm dissing the 04 flick - i still enjoy it very much) In terms of non-musical adaptation films, i too would love to see him do some Austen, or Dickens - anything that requires an accent and a good sense of character. Divine!

I think Corlnel ((can't spell, sorry)) Brandon from Sense and Sensibility would be really lovely; particularly if I was Marianne! XD Rickman did a fantastic job, I know, but as he and Warlow are two of my top favs I can't help but wonder what it'd be like if they compared roles.

Mozart in Amadeus? It'd certainly be interesting...although it'd probably be more appropriate if he were younger...But certainly an Austen character is indeed a great idea! Now why didn't I think of that...

Why of course lol another thought...its kind of an aside thing, but I'd like to see Warlow on 'Dancing with the stars'...well Hobson's doing it.

I think he'd make a superb Captain Von Trapp in Sound of Music, but only if I get to play Maria (unless someone else here has a prior claim XD). And i'd like to see him in anything by Richard Curtis ie a Hugh Grant-type romantic lead, but not as foppish as Hugh.

He's doing Dancing with the Stars as well?! I thought he was only doing It Takes Two! You'd think after 3 seasons of Hobson people could recognise him from Ant- but no. I still get "Did you see Anthony on It Takes Two?!" NO!! I know its been said many a time, but Thank God You're Here. It would be classic. Austen or Dickens sounds like a good idea- he'd really suit anything "classic" that requires good characterisation.

Oh, I just remembered! Last Friday on the local radio station they were talking about favourite driving songs and that if enough songs were suggested they could turn it into a compilation album to be won. An elderly lady from my town ((who ALWAYS calls)) called up and said: "Anything that's been done by David Hobson."
I burnt my hand when I reached for the kettle handle and missed ((light burn, it's okay now)).
I was really tempted to call up and suggest Anthony Warlow; Face the Music is always going off in my car, after all.

Jekyll & Hyde. I also second Captain von Trapp. Adore that movie and he certainly has the subtlety to pull off a strict, upright character who still gets the audience to care about him. Also, Ant loved doing The Secret Garden so he'd probably enjoy the transformation from cold to an openly loving father. I really don't want Anthony to step into those kind of tv shows. I just can't shake the feeling that these celebrities have "sold out". And even though I kinda don't want him to, I still think he'd be hilarious on Thank God You're Here.

I think TGYH is the only one he should do ... I want to see a Bourne stand-off. XD I -
- Stupid computer, I hadn't clicked send yet! -
- was rather surprised when I read that he had been asked to do Australian Idol. That would have been a nightmare.

Why would they ask someone with self-respect to go on their revolting show? All the kiddies that actually like it wouldn't appreciate Ant... Hell, I'm willing to venture they've never stepped into a theatre before and if they did, it would only be because they mistakenly thought HSM was showing. -)_-x
Makes me wonder what he would've said to Josh Groban's Music of the Night...

If the musical would ever be turned into a movie I'd love him to play Archie. Speaking of Captain von Trapp, I think Ant's best man is currently starring the role in the London revival now. I seldom watch any reality show. I can hardly imagine Ant involved in any idol or dancing with blahblah show either. Not that I have any objection to them, it's just that I think he is not the kind of person for those shows. BTW, reality shows have been so hot now, and after a successful run for the new London production of Sound of Music, now it seems they'd try to put on a show for any youth musical. And a few theatre stars have stepped into those shows too, but mainly the reality shows for theatre. I think John Barrowman was in Dancing on ice, How do you solve a problem like Maria, and Any dream will do. Lea Salonga was a judge on Philippine Idol. And there are shows for Tarzan the musical in Germany and Holland. *bang*

We've had Filly performers in Australian Idol and Aussie performers in American Idol ...
I wonder if there's something to this ...

I remember Anthony singing "I've Got a Little List" in The Mikado back in 2004. He referred a few comments about the list to Australian Idol, even mentioning Dicko by name!! It was very topical at the time and received an appropriate "Idol Contempt" sneer from me and was well received by the audience.
I would like to direct Anthony as The Bellman or The Butcher in Mike Batt's The Hunting of the Snark, it's a musical not a movie. I know Billy Connolly and Justin Hayward did a fantastic job, they are certainly a hard act to follow, but the comic Bellman or romantic Butcher would both suit him very well.
Actually, when I think about all that characters and the dance numbers I reckon Anthony could take his pick of roles from that show - except maybe for The Beaver, it is a female role, afterall!!
Hmm, I should present a proposal to Mike Batt and an Australian promotor. It must be almost 20 years since it was last shown in Oz.

I defo agree with The Secret Garden as a musical movie! There's also the possibility of a J&K movie - and apparentely this is being considered for real!

I'd totally be up for SG as a musical movie - the material, unlike other musical-movie transitions - is strong enough in either form to work i think. Oh!!!!!!! Michael Arden playing Dickon on the big screen...... *mutters gibberish* And oh my! Ant in Austen, that would be scrumptious! I have to say, I'm seeing him as Brandon.... all Rickman fans, please lower your weapons! I be all for him as Von Trap were it not for that fact that the last time i watched that - with my aunt and uncle at Christmas no less - we managed to turn it into an entire film based around S&M between Maria and the Captain...... so who knows where minds could go where Ant to step into the role and say to Maria "Hat, off!" ... oh deary me!
