~ I'm home for the holidays ~ I've gotten back into composing ~ I FINALLY have a laptop ((with no internet as of yet)) ~ My voice trainer at uni told me that vocally I'm at a post-graduate level and so he's giving me post-graduate songs to sing ((I'm in Certificate 4!!)) But more importantly ... UNEXPECTED SONG TURNS 1 ON THE 20TH OF THIS MONTH!

LAMINGTONS FOR ALL! MWUA HA HA!!!!
...
Okay, so yesterday I went to Alexa and Michael's ((my vocal teacher and her husband, who is our community town choir conductor)) at around 2 and stayed there until 9. Darrin ((our town's very own Singing Chef - turned butcher [who frequently uses the line "Are You Being Served" in the butcher shop])) came over and we all had run throughs of the trio from Cosi Fan Tutte ((I was Fiordigili , Alexa was Dorabella and Darrin was Don Alfonso, with Michael on the piano)). I admit I had only heard Cosi Fan Tutte in passing conversation and had no idea what it was about, and I don't recall ever hearing any of the songs, but when we went through the trio (("No. 10", as the page says; it was downloaded off the net)) I fell in love with the song. So from between 2 and 9 we ran through it - though Darrin left at around 6 or 7 - and I had my first dinner at their place ((they've had dinner with us now and again; it's never been formal invitation stuff, just sharing food if the conversations from visits run through dinner time)). I'm really happy about it and it's SO EASY!!!! The highest note is an A!!! The longest length a note is held for is 9 beats!! SIMPLE AS PIE!!!
So, tomorrow night ((6, 6:30 ish)) I'm going back there again for another rehearsal of the song. On Monday night it'll be Music on the Murray rehearsals at Oscar's bar - my first since school started - and TIM SEXTON will be there. I will strangle the man's fat neck, I will; right after I ask him whether or not he knows about the Warlow rumour and if it's true. Or maybe I'll just flip him. Yeah. I forgot all about karate today; don't know if it was even on, so ... *whip*

The presence of "Mr Whippy" (as he shall henceforth be known) always confuses me as to mood, but i'm glad to hear about your successful rehearsals so far Mar (hehe, rhyming is fun!)

Fiordiligi, that's an awesome role! Think you're being modest, though, I can't recall offhand what particular trio No.10 is, but Fiordy gets to sing the impossible leaps and other tricky passages Mozart is fond of giving sopranos, which demands great vocal technique and passion, besides. Wish I can hear you singing it. Well, I wish I can go to Australia to watch Ant do Phantom, but that's just a dream...
Anyways, welcome back to our beloved admin and congratulations!

If I had a better sound recording device than my mp3 player I'd bring it with me tonight and record our work; Goddess knows what my folks have done with the video camera and I don't think it'd be a good idea to bring that anyway. No. 10 seriously isn't all that bad. After all it's just when the ladies are watching their lovers sail off and Don Alfonso is nearby, and they're all just singing to the breeze rather than moving the plot along. After the nine-beat G ((actually I think I'm counting that wrong, as it's in cut common time ... )) there's a little run down; that's as difficult as it gets. Here's the pages they got off the net ((hence why some minims look like crotchets ... plus I've written all over it; notice I spelt it "tutti" XD whoops)) Page 1Page 2Page 3Page 4Page 5Page 6Sorry about the size; I don't know why the scanner does that.

Yeah, that run down is the trickiest in that trio. Just imagine, if it's possible at all for all of the members here to physically get together for the Phantom Gala (by the way, neh and cinta, i'm just about green with envy), we can do that trio with another member here. I'll do Dorabella, and, what the heck, let's dream big, Anthony can be Don Alfonso!
Getting a bit over the top with the dreaming there mwahaha

Così No. 10 ~ Soave sia il vento, usually translated as "May the winds be gentle" - which wouldn't be much help to a sailing ship!
(I have the 1991 Australian Opera version - Amanda Thane, Fiona Janes and David Brennan - on my computer, but I'm not sure how to transfer mp3 clips.)

On another copy of the piece it's marked "Oh Gentle Winds Blow". I suppose they're asking the winds to be gentle to keep the lovers safe - if you want to think of it that way. That run isn't that hard to do. I've only had the piece since Friday afternoon but I found no difficulty with it at all. We've been recording it tonight ((by tape player, which they'll put onto CD eventually)) and once I get my copy ((it's all rehearsal, mind)) I'll share tonight with you.

... despite what I just posted in the venting thread, I do have good news. I'm getting that 10% discount off Midnight Dreaming at Middle 8, and I also managed to bag an order from Amazon for the 3-disc box set of the complete Symphonic recording of Les Miz for $20, which I had been almost willing to fork out over $50 for at Middle 8 - but thankfully had decided against it.

YAY, MIDNIGHT DREAMING!! ((Although that disc is actually costing me $30.55 altogether ))
Anyway, the Warlow dream ((since I can't remember if there's a thread for this already or not)). I was in the Central Market at night, standing in the cafe eating area that's in front of one of the stores I go to regularly for Hopia and Hello Panda and so forth. I was stuck with a group of people, feeling like a prisoner; I think I was with the choir, as one of the choir ladies I know stuck her face into mine and started talking to me ((she does this a lot and it scares the hell out of me)). I hear music coming from inside the little store and manage to break free of her. Is he here? I want to enter but hands hold me back. The more I struggle the more they drag me away ... Out on the streets of a place I am unfamiliar with. My mind tells me my mother was left behind at Central Market; I see my dad's jeep passing by and hear the silent message that I am to stay put on a side-walk bench until someone comes to pick me up. So I sit and wait. Girls in dark blue school uniforms with yellow and white-striped ties and yellow emblems on their chests sit next to and around me, chatting away and casting threatening glares my way. Naturally, I begin to feel uncomfortable. Then, out from the shadows steps a figure in a tuxedo and a cloak, a mask over the right side of his face. 'Mother,' he says to me as he extends his hand. It's him! My heart flutters; I feel ready to explode in a thousand gushing emotions. It's Warlow!'Mother?' the girls scoff and laugh tauntingly ((is a word?)). 'People often mistake me for a mother,' I say, taking the phantom's hand and rising. 'It's so depressing. How am I ever going to find a boyfriend?' I expect to hear laughter as I walk away in the hand of the phantom; none came. We crossed the road and turned right, walking along the outside of a long, broken down shed. He begins making a verbal sound with every step he takes, cheering my spirits. Shhk. Shhk. Shhk. Shhk. I tell him he was wonderful as the phantom, though I never saw it, and he grins. Eventually we reach the entrance to the shed; there are a couple of people standing on the sidewalk having a conversation. They wave and say hello to him as he opens the door for me and gestures to step inside. Upon doing so I notice piles of crates littered about the place. The ones that are not stacked into piles are being used as tables and chairs for people drinking and smoking and talking away. An after party.'Mocha and scotch,' he says behind me, then wraps his arms around me. 'Although maybe there is no such thing as scotch.' I jolt excitedly as his long arms over reach a little. A girl to my left notices and I try to hide my joy. I hear music once again and I let him turn me to face him, ready to dance; but before I can face him on the full a dim cream-coloured light blinds me and I cannot open my eyes. His voice is so distant ...
I reached for my phone and checked the time. 9:30 am. Maybe just a little longer, I mentally mumbled before falling back asleep.
The room is so small and crowded, like a pantry; only instead of food there are toys and dolls and other nick-nacks. 'We need to find the key,' I tell them. 'He said we should.' 'Where is he anyhow?' one of the girls say, and I notice for the first time that all the girls are inside this tiny room whilst all the men are in the construction section of the shed. 'He said he'd be here by now and we've been waiting for two hours! I'm so bored!' 'Why don't we go to the club down the road then?' another one suggests, looking rather like a tramp. As I protest they all leave. How can I find the key alone? The key to the door in the hallway; the one he told us to open? The one he said contained a surprise? Fed up with waiting I turn the corner into the construction section where the men are working, drinking and talking. There's a lot of drinking going on tonight. I see him making his way up steel stairs. 'Wait! Mister Warlow!' I yell from the base and he stops and turns. 'They all left! I don't know how to find the key!' With a smile he removes his cloak and tosses it down to me. 'Find the black lantern,' he answers to my puzzled expression, 'the one that matches this cloak. Find that and you will find the key.' With not another word he continues to ascend. 'Wait! Please!' I cry, but he does not stop. Sighing bitterly I return to the toy pantry and start the search. I find numerous lamps and lanterns - all from my mother's collection - and I find some of the keys that had been taken from my key collection ((yes I collect keys!)). Then I find a black lantern; it is old and doesn't close properly. How could it possibly work? If I lit the candle the wax would drip out and I could set the place on fire! As I study the old lantern I remove the candle and find a small inscription on the lantern base: Kular knows. Kular ... my angel doll; the doll I based one of my story's characters on. Rummaging through the shelves I find her; her delicate porcelain face is still rosy, her golden curls may fray here and there but she was still in good condition. I see something poking out from beneath her collar. The key! Pulling it out I notice it is my favourite one from my collection; small with an interesting tooth design, unlike any I have seen before. I never thought it to open anything but here was my chance to try. With Kular in hand I head to the door in the corner of the hallway. Around the corner I see him, casually dressed, and he enters the room through another door to turn on the light. I cannot enter there; it is not permitted. That is his door. This is mine. The key slides easily into the hole; I giggle. Tentatively I push the door open and enter ... The room is bland. Pale. A storage room for odd boxes. Sitting atop one of the boxes is my brown suitcase, old and tattered but unavailable to replace. This is the surprise? The suitcase was not locked; it opens with ease to reveal brochures. Flyers. Promotional papers. For Phantom. Three of my sisters and my mother appear from behind; I start to cry. I can't afford to go! I feel Niomi's arms encircle me. 'We'll go as a group of five,' she tells me soothingly as Warlow pulls up a deckchair and sits at the head of the circle that has formed around the suitcase. She begins talking with my mum and my other sisters and as they're all chatting away I notice Warlow watching me. He does not say a word - nor do I; but his smile is infectious.

I think I may have had another dream of him before but I can't remember it. This is the first dream I've had of an idol who's actually been nice to me in a dream ((make sense?)). And he was more than nice, he was down-right friendly ... ! XD I think I had this dream because I spent about an hour looking over all the Warlow pictures stored on my laptop, wondering whether or not I should delete some of the smaller ones that barely show his features ((I decided against it)).
And more good news that I got last night; Tim Sexton gave us the all clear. I'm gonna be doing the trio from Cosi AT THE FRONT this year!! WOO!
...
Shoot, it's not long now; MotM is on the last weekend of April!! AAAH!

I completely forgot about recording audio on my mp3; sorry about that guys. But I'll be getting the DVD once it's finished editing so I have to figure out a way of sharing it without Pout-Porri finding out Anyway, the other day in performance forum one of my guy friends had to perform. No one in our group had really heard him sing before so we were all wondering what he was going to sound like ((especially Caitlin and I, as we're both singers; Megan is still wondering because she wasn't there [she's buggered her throat and she's ill ])). I wasn't expecting anything spectacular but then again I wasn't sure what we would be getting. I tell you what, when he got up there and started singing my - jaw - fell. Seriously, that boy has a voice to swoon over! What hurts is the fact that he hates performing. What also hurts is the fact that he can produce such angelic sounds without so much of an effort ((he was bored on the stage!)). Caitlin and I were swooning over his voice for the rest of class. And afterwards, when we were walking to the train station to go home. And still later that night, trying not to think about it too much and burst into giggles and smirks at the dinner tables ... Lucky Caitlin will be singing with him when she performs in a couple of weeks; a few weeks ago she decided she would do Think of Me and she asked Jared ((the angelic sod)) if he would do Raoul's verse, and he said yes. Now that we've heard him she's doubly excited; I admit I'm slightly jealous. She used to have a crush of him at the beginning of the year' but talked herself out of it as he has a girlfriend ((who he won't break up with even though she cheated on him and he found out two months after it had happened - via rumour! and THEN she told him! He's such a git!)). PS: Today Caitlin and I were on the couches at the Backstage Cafe just chatting and boys and what qualities we would like our ideal guys to have. Obviously singing came up, and I whipped (( *whip* )) out my mp3 and said: "This is my ultimate duet song." So I gave her the earphones ((she handed one back so we could both listen)) and set it to It's a Dangerous Game! And she liked it. Scratch that. She LOVES it!!! She asked to hear it again. And again. And then more Warlow duets. And a few hours ago she got home and downloaded his version of It's a Dangerous Game!Ssssssscore ;D

I've already got the mind to do so; I'm going to ask them if I can do so mainly because I want his voice on record ... if only he didn't rush so much. When he rushes he falters. But oh well. I might even record the rehearsal we've scheduled for Tuesday ((I'm helping Caitlin reach the top B; whether Jared will be there I don't know))

*perks up*
well last night I saw Jesus Christ Superstar and it was FANTASTIC. so that made me happy. and the Mary was good Neh-- the girl was a very good actress and singer, I just can't stand her as a person! mind you I guess I don't know her very well so I should stop judging.... but yeah. fabulous show. absolutely brilliant. I'm sorry I didn't reply to your last text Neh-- I was going to, but I checked how much credit I have left and it's at an alarming low, and I will not be making much money over the next few weeks. so I really had to resist! sorry!
