Ok, just for fun. . . .
Who would be in your ideal cast of J&H? All-star cast?
Apart from the obvious, of course!
I still have a little research to do on this one. . .[/color]

I'm pretty much okay with everyone who was in the [Concept] ((although due to death the whole cast can't be reunited)). I have a bit of a mental battle between Carollee and Christine ((too many Christines in Broadway!!)) as I like their variations.
Concept Stride is good and I do like him but it'd be interesting to hear him as someone I love to hate. Who can we - ? ah. Cuccioli. Or Wilkenson. Or - *stops before entire list is spewed forth*

^ Michael Crawford! XD
I really don't like Concept Stride. He's just so laughable. Then again, perhaps that's just the lines he has to utter.
(Speaking of which, am I the only one that snickers when Ant screams, "Not on our wedding day"?)

That's why I like Concept Stride; it's rather funny. Better than listening to Broadway Stride. *shudder*
And ... as far as I'm aware unwinding, you are.

I don't know... Not even Ant can make me take that line seriously. XD
Some of the stuff they have to say... I'm sure the writers' creativity just went on a brief vacation.

We could always chuck in dialogue from The Scarlet Pimpernel ...

Actually, unwinding, I'm with you on the "not on our wedding day" line. Though it's the line rather than the delivery that is amusing. It's like they just had to put that line in to emphasise the drama of the scene. As if the transformation and subsequent "slaying of the groom in front of the guests" thing wasn't dramatic enough!!!

^ Oh, of course I'm not poking fun at Mr Warlow's performance. He's more than up to scratch but that line isn't. No one could've made it sound good. XD

That line gets me every time too- I know Ant said that they went for a "Victorian Radio Melodrama" (Ant's idea) it was quite dramatic enough without "Don't let her see, not on our wedding day!" It seems like a useless bit of exposition, but there could be other things that Jekyll's not liking about this marriage gig XD

But it's a between the lines bit. Of all the days he could have lost control it ended up being the day that was supposed to be the happiest, but ended up in total tragedy.

I think that the dialogue is what would make this such a tough musical to really pull of onstage, and be taken seriously throughout. Songs aside, i mean. My friend Fran has seen the stage show twice i think and says there are several points where, no matter how good the performer, you will always be trying to stop a chuckle escaping, especially during the Transformation (but surely that's to be expected) And also, unless the actor really gives his all physically to Confrontation, then 95% of the drama is lost... like often he'll just move his head from one side to the other.... ooh, that's powerful stuff right there! To think, what Ant could do with this role.... *glassy eyes*

But it's a between the lines bit. Of all the days he could have lost control it ended up being the day that was supposed to be the happiest, but ended up in total tragedy. I agree with you Mar about the tragedy bit, but I think it was self-evident, he didn't need to say it, because then that made it less tragic and more melodramatic. I think the pained growling and groaning more than made that point! But then I'm a big fan of understatement rather than overstatement.

XD And oh, just imagine watching Ant do J&H live....Phantom was one dream down, now J&H is next.

And after that, The Scarlet Pimpernel.
Well he just HAS to! He'd make a wonderful Percy but I also want him to rival Terrence Mann for Where's the Girl?

And oh, just imagine watching Ant do J&H live....Phantom was one dream down, now J&H is next. Forget rockin' up to last Sydney Phantom with *iluvant* 's and *iluverik* 's. We should construct one big banner that stretches the length of the front row saying, "Do Jekyll & Hyde!"
