I'm actually listening to the audio on my computer; my MP3 doesn't have a battery, remember? ^ This is what happens when I open a page and walk away. But anyway, I'm listening to the audio on my computer. I tried it with both my CD in ((the burner, as the CD Player section is broken and I keep forgetting to call Steve)) and just by the saved audio on the comp, and there's still the tapping. And I plug my headphones straight into the computer instead of using the speakers. Speakers just make it all dim to me.

I still can't hear it! It's possible that it's just my ears though. They have dodgy days.

Hmm. Generally when someone says bass just on its own it refers to the bass guitar. Ah well. I guess it depends on the type of music you were brought up with and play. To anyone but a guitarist, as far as orchestras go, bass always means Double Bass.

This is utterly random - and it was the reason why i led Mar astray for a sec with a text last night - but did anyone watch Hugh's Oscar singsongs, and notice the Moment/J&H parody? It was overly blatant but it was noticeable nonetheless and it made me grin muchly

If anyone is looking for J+H, double CD, there is one here on Ebay Australia, currently at $3... And I still can't hear the tapping , have decided perhaps the piano bit is too - sorry, don't know the technical word for this - crisp of tone to hear it.. to my old ears anyway.

Amazon are selling it cheap too; not as cheap as that, but still cheaper than the $48 offered at JB HIFI

I think I paid fifty-something for my copy. I got a copy for a friend for half that, but $3! Practically giving it away.

Which is a bit like when I saw two upright pianos in the local classifieds section for $300 and $500. It begs for the question: What's wrong with it?

Those are some very cheap pianos...

There's not a chance in hell of finding a good piano for under $600. And because they were in The River News it was even more unlikely that those two were in good condition.
Especially since they sat there for about a year' before vanishing last week.

Yay, glad to see he got there safely.
Jekyll and Hyde is one of those roles I would have love to seen him in. Given Anthony a challenge as both an actor and a vocalist.
At least we have the cast recording which captures his original interpretation of the role.

@fred - LOL!! Definitely!! scuffa - I would have loved to have been able to see him in this role - such a shame he didn't make it to tread the boards as these two characters. I did happen to email John Frost if he would look into putting it on with Anthony in the title roles and Lucy Maunder in the role of Emma and his PA said she would ensure he got the email as she thought it would be a great pairing - so fingers-crossed! Although maybe he feels he'd be too old for that role now too, especially after what he said about DZ the other night. *sad face* I still can't imagine DZ as an opera after seeing it the way we did in its perfection (my personal opinion) - BUT I'm sooo glad that we got to see it in that genre!

My problem with him doing J&H now is that he'd do the Broadway version, not the cast recording version.... and Marie-Cris made me listen to the Broadway version at some point. They've removed all the best songs! It would be so sad. .... although, Warlow could make anything seem better.

What songs are gone in the Broadway version?

Uh... I can't remember.
I'm going to go have a squiz at the back of the cases.
Okay, and the verdict is: Prologue (which is now an instrumental), I Need to Know, Bitch Bitch Bitch, The Engagement Party (may be attached to something else, can't remember, watching Stargate so can't listen), Board of Governors, Bring on the Men (replaced by 'Good and Evil, which Marie-Cris says is okay, but I love Bring on the Men, so meh), Streak of Madness, Mass (which may not be a major loss), Reflections, The World Has Gone Insane, The Girls of the Night, No One Must Ever Know, The Wedding Reception.
I can't see Once Upon a Dream, but Marie-Cris assures me that it's there, so maybe it's been renamed. But now I've made her doubt herself, so I don't know anymore. Anyway, it's possible that some of the more minor songs have been shuffled into something else, or renamed, but I really don't know and I can't be bothered to go on a long comparison.
The important thing is that, of all the songs that make me listen to J&H over and over and over.... the only ones left are Alive, His Work and Nothing More, In His Eyes, Dangerous Game and Confrontation. A grand total of five songs and, even of those ones, I'd far rather listen to the Warlow ones than Robert Cuccioli. That being said, I'd still go to see Warlow if he was in the Broadway version, but I'd mourn all the way through for my favourites.

JEKYLL AND HYDE. 9:24pm.
YES. YES. A MILLION TIMES, YES.
Great casting all around. Suzanne Johnstone m as stern as ever as Lady Beaconsfield. John Wood as the Bishop. Our familiar friend from Zhivago, Martin Crewes, as Utterson. Amanda Lea Laverne as Lisa. JEMMA RIX AS LUCY. MY GOD. So many wonderful, wonderful performers giving their all on this costumed concert. And, of course, Anthony Warlow.
Some songs were dropped down a tone for him to get his stellar belt out, but that's not surprising, given how dark his voice has matured. His insanity as blue steampunk-glasses-wearing Edward Hyde is excellent, allowing him to shape potentially unplanned notes into brilliance. And while some of the songs have become a chopped and blended version of the original concept and the Broadway version, at heart, the concepts favourites are still there and he - like everyone else in this stellar cast - do them justice. Who would've thought a snippet of Dangerous Game could work so well intertwined with Alive! ? And the Broadway's version of Letting Go was so lovingly inserted. And thank the powers that be that both the character name of Lisa and His Work and Nothing More are still in, with a pleasant additional round of the final lines repeated.
I expect you're wondering about This is the Moment? AWE. SOME. He still has the power to hold that final note, and the fact that it bleeded in from a partial start of Transformation worked so well.
Well, that's it for part 1 folks. The interval is ending and I can't wait to dive back into London.
--------
JEKYLL AND HYDE. 10:26PM
Noteable quotes:
"Blugh blugh blugh blugh." "Bad news from God."
The fabulousness continued for Act 2. Murder may have changed the lyrics to the Broadway version but it worked. Warlow's interaction with musical director Vanessa Scammell was just one of the many humerous moments during Hyde's rampage. It's a Dangerous Game was wonderfully erotic with a slight tango feel. In His Eyes was so sweet and moving, as were all the songs our leading ladies performed. I am SO GLAD that treasures like Streak of Madness were not lost - even the Broadway gem of Lost in the Darkness (though contextually from where it was placed it was a litle confusing who he was talking to if you didn't know the background, as it came right after Hyde killing Lucy in a gloriously creepy Sympathy Tenderness: Hyde Version) - though sadly Girls of the Night was not one of them.
Speaking of the girls, their costumes were to die for. Not only the leads and ensemble but even Vanessa had a skirt to envy. The men were of course dashing in their Victorian vests.
So what have I covered? Costumes: spot on. Voices: spot on. Orchestra: spot on. Lighting: mostly spot on. I only say mostly because while everything was brilliant, I'm not alone in thinking that there should have been red lighting for Hyde during Confrontation. That's it. That's the only nitpick I can think of. I love this show, I love this cast, and I love that I finally got to see a live performance of the musical that started my journey into the fandom of Anthony Warlow.
