Oh my God guys, now i will never be able to watch a behind-the-scenes on filming ever again...... especially not if it involves unattractive actors... the images, the images!!!! THEY BURN! I don't think there's anything i can add to the J&H debate.... just the thought of Ant's face so much larger than life, his voice in surround sound..... *gone to a happy place*

Okays, was driving into Uni today, listening to disc 2 *coz c'mon, it's the better disc out of the 2 - not that they're not both gems* and it occurred to me - an awful lot of the intros to numbers, in particular The World Has Gone Insane, immediately remind me of the instrumental score to Labyrinth, and possibly the Bowie tune Within You. Anyone else feel this too? Or is it just me and my always non-sensical links? *le sigh* And again i was just frigin' frustrated sitting there thinking of all the TERRIBLE lyrical changes to the B'way recording. Why?!!!!!!!

I actually hadn't noticed that *giggletantrum* But I'm tempted to rush off and slap on Labyrinth to compare ((won't though, doing ... something else))

The aussie J & H cast recording is rare as hens teeth, all the recordings were recalled because they canned the theatre production, I say no fair! (I likes Simon:P) Would have loved to see his Raoul in London!!

Simon Burke? In J&H? The most evil thing I could imagine doing is losing wedding rings

Simon Burke..... J&H..... nope, the two just refuse to join coherently. When you've seen the man jump around like a kangaroo and build quite convincing looking crocodiles out of egg cartons, well - your imagination should be able to take you anywhere, but certainly not to Dangerous Game!
Oh my Nik - that's quite a find. All i want to do is give that kid a haircut and a bath (not like that! Were it Ant however....)

OH so THAT'S why I can't find it anywhere *shakes fist* I found mine on Ebay Australia, and darn it, the same seller had a couple of other AW cds that were quite rare but I didn't know that at the time! There's one for sale here.. actually, there's a whole heap for sale here, including some used from $8... says it's the concept cast featuring Anthony Warlow, 2 CDs etc etc. www.amazon.com/Jekyll-Hyde-Musical-Thriller-Concept/dp/B000002J3K/ref=pd_bbs_sr_5?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1231751714&sr=8-5The new ones are from $26.99, but I can never tell on Amazon if it's automatically converted to NZ dollars. Even at US dollars, that would make it about $45ish, not including postage, and if you got it for $8, well that's about $15NZ.

The 2-disc Concept Cast recording is rare depending. They have it in floods in America but it's a bit hard to get a hold of here, depending on where you go. It's a bitch to get in S.A.; Borders won't even order it, and they're an American company!
The really rare Simon version though ... that I know I'll never get.
I actually want a copy of the highlights of the concept cast, as it was that album that brought me back to Warlow; even though it's the same songs, but less of them ((no Murder, Murder!, Lucy Meets Hyde or The World has Gone Insane et cetera)), I still want it. I've still got a copy burnt from my teacher's mother's album but it's just not the same as having an authentic copy. I was just saying that to my brother today, how I despise burnt copies and pirated things and all the like ... I'm a hypocrite that way though, as I do have a little bit of bootlegged material from things like Terrence Mann's Romeo and Juliet ((which I want more of!)) and some other guy's version of Phantom ((My Mother Bore Me, You Are My Music, Paris is a Tomb, et cetera)).

@ Marie-Cris - try here. Not dirt cheap, but at least it's available. @ Nik - I did see an ad somewhere for that J&H. I don't know that I can justify going to Newcastle.... I'm supposed to be saving up for camping gear and a new computer.

With some luck I might be able to get it with a PrePaid card, considering it's VISA. I just bought two new ones today but it looks like the post office hasn't updated their stock, so the expiery date is the same as the ones on my previous two cards. x)_x I have 70c on my silver card and $13.50 on my Superman card ((what can I get for $13.50? AMAZON SURFING TIME!)). The new ones are 100 each ((I never get the 50s)), which I can see is going to be spent in a big hurry. THE NEXT DAY EDIT: You know what? Bugger it. I'm buying the album. The seller has agreed to let me use a money order, and even to convert the total amount to AUS$ for me so I know how much to make out. I'm getting my highlights album! ^)_^

Question: Is it just me, or did they use a bass guitar for some of the songs? Or was that something else, like a cello? Or did they use both? ((I'm pretty sure they've used cellos, but I'm wondering about a bass guitar ...))
Oh, and has anyone else heard the mechanical fault tapping at the end of Transformation?

Oh, and has anyone else heard the mechanical fault tapping at the end of Transformation? Just had a listen.. can't hear fault tapping.. how close to the end is it? While he's still singing, or just after? I do only have a cheap Sony MP3 player ;D so perhaps it's not good enough sound quality I must say, when Anthony is singing, I've realised I'm not really listening to the music, especially in that song, he's just so darn good, it would have been the most brilliant production to see him in. That said, not sure how he could possibly do all these songs every night, the voice would have to be ragged after something like Transformation. Re the cello/bass guitar, I reckon possibly both in part (definitely cello) and possibly even back up from a synthesiser playing a similar note.

I'm sure I heard a bass guitar in a couple of songs, I just can't remember which ones! I think Facade was one of them, or maybe Murder, Murder!, or both. I'll have to listen through the lot again ((not that I mind )). But definitely cello, I thought, because what's an orchestra without a cello? And it's surprising how good synthesisers can make something, compared to how often their powers are abused. It's well after the singing and I haven't been able to hear past the accompaniment on other tracks to hear it, so as far as I know of there was a moment of weakness in Transformation. I was listening closely to all tracks ((it's something I like to do now again; to hear past the voice to find all the little tricks that make the songs so good, and I'm always finding something new)), picking out a particular instrument per song to keep track of melody patterns ((the same chord sequence can be found in a lot of the songs, but I've yet to identify the chord names)) and then when there was the trickly bit with the piano when he's looking in the mirror, there was a faint tapping. Then he says "Free", the music goes berserk and the sound is drowned out. Anthony has a technique or being able to produce those sounds without placing too much strain on the voice. Anyone can do it with the proper training.

I just listened to Transformation and couldn't hear the tapping. In fact, I listened to it via iTunes, and then went to my cd player in case my computers speakers are crappy. I thought I could hear something on the cd player, but it didn't sound like it shouldn't be there. I could just be missing it though.
As for bass guitar - I cheated and went to the little book in the CD case. It says cello and bass in the orchestra list, but no mention of guitars, bass or otherwise.

Which implies the low end of the string ensemble, or a deep bass synthesiser, according to this. Hmm. Generally when someone says bass just on its own it refers to the bass guitar. Ah well. With the tapping, I pressed my headphones in further ((they're padphones, not the small ones that sit inside your ear)) and focused beyond the piano. Maybe it's just me.

I always assume 'bass' to be talking about.... one of those giant cellos, for lack of a better term. A double bass is the name you're looking for The cello is my favourite musical instrument. I used to play it, but I was an insult to its beautiful sound so I gave up and vowed to be an enthusiastic audience member instead. I try to listen out for it but it's hard when one is being distracted by one's favourite baritone. Having read quite a bit about Marie-Cris's MP3 player ;D, I suspect it has much better sound quality than mine, hence possibly why she can hear it and I can't seem to. Also, her ears are younger than mine, and you do lose the ability to hear little subtleties as you age - that's my excuse anyway ;D Next pay day I'm getting a better set of speakers for my computer, so I might try and see if I can hear it better that way.

Double bass! Thank you, it bugs me when I can't find the right term for something. I think at the moment Marie-Cris's MP3 player has no sound quality at all due to the lack of a battery.

I think at the moment Marie-Cris's MP3 player has no sound quality at all due to the lack of a battery. Very true Poor Marie-Cris. I've only had an MP3 player since Christmas and I'd be utterly lost without it. I've even regained the ability to work and listen to music at the same time (lost it there for a while, the ability that is!!! ;D) Before I got my MP3, I did discover one really weird thing about my house (which is basically just one big open plan room, with quite a high roof) - the acoustics are freaky. If I put one of Anthony's CDs on (even on my crappy computer speakers), then walk away into a different part of the house, it is uncanny how much it sounds like he's in the room. I thought one CD had stopped playing one time and I started washing dishes... next thing "Music of the Night" starts up (that version on Centre Stage crashes into the opening) and I jumped 10 feet in the air, it seemed so real. Sadly, it wasn't
