It's brilliant; and possibly the only time you'll ever see John Cleese in a pink bikini.
I won't spoil it any more, do go watch it!

Ah, the Lumberjack Song... a work of artisitc genius! You'll never look at men in plaid the same way.... GRRR! My mum's 50th b'day party celebrations have me running about being, in the words of Lorelei Gilmore, "busy busy busy like a really tall bee!"

Speaking of birthdays and therefore cake, I am NOT happy that Ferguson Plarre closed early today because I wanted to ask how much it was to get a photo transferred onto an eatable cake top (for the Ant cake of course)!!
And that all these customers at work keep insulting Ant, by way of Back In The Swing being played at work.... >.<

I'm sorry you lost your glasses Lauren - misplacing things has to be one of the most annoying occurances in the 'commonplace' category - that, and leaving something behind and only realising it when you've reached a location, or a moment when you need it. Grrr... i get tense just thinking about it! *reaches for Dammit Doll, courtesy of Mar*

well it would appear i lost them on the train so the odds of them turning up are rather slim! ah well i went to the optometrists today, turns out i probably need new lenses anyways coz my vision has adjusted etc. so im getting a test done on the 28th, and theres a chance i may be able to get a pair by the 8th of jan which would be awsome! lol i took care to explain that i need my glasses for driving and phantom and whatnot.

Did you manage to scare the optometrist by telling him all about Phantom? I scared my uncle for 3 straight days......and got random suggestions on how to get backstage.....

The pre-paid card only goes up to $100 and I need $107.85 on the card in order to make the booking therefore I can't make a booking unless I get to a ticketek centre and the only ones are in Adelaide and by the time I get down to Adelaide and make a booking ALL THE TICKETS WILL BE SOLD OUT AND IT'S NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!!
...
Fine. I'll make a booking for a goddamn B reserve. I'm SO not happy about this. I had enough trouble trying to figure out how to activate the damn giftcard in the first place.

*flashes back to a conversation from years ago* My aunt sat in B reserve back in '91, and she said they weren't bad, save for half dressed cast members after Masquerade! She just went that time to hear it, having already seen it twice...maybe its a genetic thing to see Phantom many many times...
My rant for the day? Back In The Swing is gone!! It was only with the Christmas music, plus one of the managers hated it, so its gone....

yeah well two randoms in drive thru were convinced i have some form of accent, when did that happen? All the old kiwi lady said when i asked was that i sounded foreign, nice and specific! lol
Also im a tad annoyed at the optometrist for taking photos of my eyes with some machine, it made them even more screwy today. Although i should get glasses by the 8th so it kinda balances out...

It's been an interesting day, hasn't it?
Oh, and I wouldn't worry too much about people asking about accents; it gets rather funny after a while. I've had people ask me if I'm from England, America, Spain, Germany ((what?!)), Greece ((double what?!)) and New Zealand after they've heard me talk. The only time anyone's ever thought of me as Australian was when asking me if I was an Abbo, but that was to do with what I look like instead of what I sound like.
...
Must be my nose.

Don't worry girls, people are just plain weird! I'm a born 'n breed Aussie from Aussie born 'n breed parents, all my ancestors are from England, Ireland and Scotland... so Celtic origins all round! Yet, I still get weirdos asking if I'm Italian (what-the f...?) American or Canadian? Ok, the American or Canadian... maybe, but Italian??? I think over the last 28 years I've picked up a little of my husband's accent and don't sound 'real' Aussie anymore. My husband was born in Sri Lanka and although they only ever spoke English (not Sinhalese, the native language!), back in Sri Lanka they do have an accent, so maybe that accounts for it, but I still say people are just plain weird!

Hi Jazz! Have you been busy? Hope you and your family had a good Christmas. How's the evil Dr Strangelove? ? When I was in UK people kept thinking I was from US or Greece or Italy. I guess I am short with olivish complexion and dark hair so that probably figured but I definitely do NOT have an American accent. Also not a very strong Aussie one either. All those years of elocution lessons and singing proper have given me a sort of nothing accent! And, I've had B Reserve in the Dress Circle Mar (C1 I think) and I would have been cross first time but you just miss a few things off to the side which are pretty inconsequential anyhow. You get a good view of the Angel and at least you are closer to the upper gallery than in the Stalls!!!!! I know you don't want a credit card but have you thought about a debit card? Not all banks offer them but at least you can buy stuff over the internet (like tickets) using money that you have in your account already without going into debt. Both my boys have them (ANZ & Westpac offer them) and it has certainly given them a lot more freedom. Also it has stopped them using my card and then me fighting for months to get the money back!!!!

Hi Sandra, yes I've been working my butt off... sadly, the bloody thing refuses to get any smaller no matter how much I work! *giggletantrum* Somehow xmas week I managed to work 56.5 hours, so xmas kinda went by in a blur, but was pretty good. I hope you had a good one... or did you get stuck working like me? The evil doctor has been away in Qld. all xmas week so it's actually been Ok at No 1 job, but at job No 2 one of the female doctors is shitty with me and is being a pain in the arse... I think in general most doctors are a pains to work for!

Except anaesthetists. They are far less self absorbed than most and God knows I've been exposed to a far few varieties over the last 30 years! Went back to work Thursday and clocked up 12 hours, then 13 yesterday and 7 today. On Call last night and today, then Monday night and Tuesday. We have done 10 C-Sections since Thursday morning. Babies popping out every time you turn your back!! Shades of the Catholic mother in Meaning of Life!!! (Get that will you Deirdre!). Who says we don't do socially convenient caesarians in this country? Still, only3 and a half weeks to work and I'm on 5 weeks hols. And I get my final trip to Melbourne to see Ant X 3 shows before then as well. Then Spamalot with my sons in Melbourne Australia Day Weekend, David Hobson at Taronga Zoo Feb 8, Phantom in Bris Feb 15 & Cat Empire in Bris Feb 16. Oh and then Rod Stewart in Melbourne Feb 28. One mustn't complain too much about the overtime cos if it wasn't for that I'd be doing none of the above!!!

The bank in the city actually GAVE me a card; when they stopped using bank books a couple of years' ago they forced me to get a paper card and I had to present that every time I went inside the bank ((odd thing is they let my dad stay on the bankbook! Not fair!!)), and that was fine, but then one day in the bank I had been going to at the uni for several months, they handed me a plastic card. At least I can use the Bank SA ATM, and use it to make payments at stores, but as far as WHAT the card is, I don't know ((I'm no good with card terminology)). It just acts like my paper card to my savings account only it works on machines ...
I think the bank offered me a debit card but dad wouldn't let me get it.
You were lucky, you were in C; I'm in H 10, all the way at the back.

At least last row in Dress Circle isn't as far back as last row in Grand where I sat with my sister and niece, and you're not too far off from the side.
I suggest you ask your bank if they do debit cards. It's exactly the same as a normal ATM card but you can use it on-line as well. Apparently most of the banks are now changing over to them because they've worked out that the internet and internet shopping is here to stay!!!! (Apparently according to my son, banks will be phasing out EFTPOS in stores in favour of the all purpose debit card within a couple of years anyway.)
