^ Better hope he doesn't read it then Mar, the albatross comment came out of watching MotN and commeting on Ant's impressive arm span- it was compared to an albatross.....and now it's been applied elsewhere. And a budgie is such a small bird to smuggle.

And a budgie is such a small bird to smuggle. You are NOT putting any of my budgies there! ! ! But then again, we could all be very jealous of that little budgie, couldn't we? ? ? Ok, I have been officially corrupted, but I blame Anthony himself for that! ! ! Just check the 'conversation' at the bottom of my post . . .

Anthony! (What a first date that would be....) He really does like making us feel awkward. Mar, I loves it. Although I have a stuffed toy in my room, which I read the tag on today and realised, yes, it is indeed an albatross.

I've always been rather fond of albatrosses, and now I'll never be able to think of them the same way. Damn.

Has anyone been to the POTO Las Vegas spectacular? I was just looking at the merchandise they have available, and it is so much better than what we are offered.

My sisters were in Vegas earlier this year, a few weeks before they came home and we saw POTO in Sydney. They just assumed it was the US show of POTO, the Broadway version in Vegas so they skipped it as they were seeing it in Sydney soon anyway.
MAN were they pissed when I told them what it actually was...

roguecannon: I don't think your sister missed out much... Appearantly the Las Vegas version plays in a tailor-made theatre in Venetian hotel, there are quite a few modifications to the show, with improved special and pyrotechnic effects and a special four-pieces chandelier that flies together mid-air. But on the down side... 1. they've shorten the show from 135 minutes to 90 minute with no intermission, which means they've cut out a few less important scenes and shortened Stranger than you Dreamt It and *le GASP!* The Point of No Return. 2. Chandelier now falls at end of Point of No Return instead of after the Reprise. (the movie comes to mind... ) 3. In final lair, Raoul is trapped in a steel CAGE instead of the lasso. They have to modify lyrics such as "keep your hand at the level of your eyes" otherwise it won't make sense. 4. The current Vegas phantom, Anthony Crivello, he has a decent enough voice, but acting-wise... It wasn't bad, and he does get points for trying. But like many other phantoms, he can't quite manage the grace and sensuality required to perform Music of the Night. ...then again, I'm comparing them to OUR Anthony, which would be rather unfair to other phantoms. I would go see it though if I'm in Vegas, just to satisfy my curiosity.

I just got a bit distracted watching it.... ..... ..... I'd only go see the Vegas show as a curiosity, but probably sit there cringing. May, it is rather unfair comparing Phantoms to Ant, isn't it?

I think the Vegas version would be interseting to see, but I'd have to go see the Ant version again just to clear my head.

I have seen the Las Vegas version back in 2006. Has it good and bad points, and yes some great merchandise goodies to buy.
Yes trimmed down to 90 minutes, no intermission and cuts here and there. Hated the flying saucer 4 piece chandelier pre show and how it came together, did have neat trick of the phantom coming down through chandelier and hanging out of middle of it for "singing to bring down chandelier line". Fall of chandelier which didn't fall anywhere as such after abridged PONR replicating movie was dissapointing. Showed Bouquet being killed up in the flies. Hated the Raoul cage with daggers in place of lasso. Did really like however the masquerade start with fire sparklers and replica alluminated set of Paris Opera House outside at night coming out of stage floor and then later being pulled into above flies to show staircase. Purpose bulid auditorium nice and atmospheric. Overall a nice touch of Phantom but no where as good as seeing the long playing version that we all love.

@ Nik - Ahhh, thanks for the little Buquet tidbit in your review! It was bugging me so much as to what was going on with him coz he sounded different but I couldn't see his face very well (here I was thinking 9 rows back wasn't far enough for binoculars >.<). I gotta say, I'm usually a fan of creepy Buquet but I did like Simon Meadow's interpretation - very amusing @kylie - Gosh. Lucky I wasn't taking that photo; I would've either dropped your camera or burst into a fit of giggles. Probably both. Ahaha what a hilarious comment to make <3 Oh, I hope you had fun in Auckland too

Anthony! (What a first date that would be....) He really does like making us feel awkward. I think it's payback for all the things we've said here. The poor man's probably gone beetroot red during all the times he's visited US that he's decided to make US feel just as awkward. Not that I mind completely ...

^ Good point. What's his comeback to the albatross comments going to be? Speaking of which, 1067 people help me out, who originally said "He has the wingspan of an albatross"?

Ant strikes me from what I've heard from people who know people who know people and what I've ready here as a *very* self assured and confident guy. I think he would be thinking 'mission acomplished' if he read that people were still blushing months after he said something to them. So...what exactly happened in Melbourne?
