Hi friends,
Just in case it hasn't been posted yet, I have news regarding Mr. Warlow in Phantom of the Opera playing at the Princess Theatre in Melbourne over late June/July:
Pre-sale tickets for the show go on sale on Wednesday 21 February. If you haven't already, I recommend you sign up at phantomoftheopera.com.au (I think that's the address) as well as going to the ticketek website.
If you register (it's free) asa ticketek member, you'll get access to the pre-sale of tickets.
I give this information freely, but God help you if you get in line before I do!!
G.

For Ticketek the URLs are ticketek.com.au (if registered with them for email bulletins) or premier.ticketek.com.au Both have Phantom pre-sale booking details. However, the pre-sale offer is only available between Wed. Feb 21 and Sun. Feb 25, with general bookings opening the following day.

I wonder whether this was why Anthony wasn't in the Adelaide Pirates season? It seems reasonable that he'd be needed at the auditions for Christine - since he'd have to work with the lady, his opinion of the most likely candidates would probably be as important as their vocal ability, if that makes sense!

Oh thank goodness it's Ana - she's who i was hoping for. A few months back a friend suggested her and sent me the link to her sound clips and i adore ADORE her "Someone Like You". Plus, she's done Chris before, so she's perfect! I'm very very happy!

Yeah, I think that makes sense. I'm glad that they sought Anthony's opinion. Ana was u/s for Christine in the tour of POTO I saw two years ago. I didn't get to see her, but I heard great words about her singing ability, which was said to be superior to the principal Marni Raab.

Her website seems to imply that Phantom WILL be touring nationally and in NZ! In "Biography": "perform the lead role of Christine Daae opposite Anthony Warlow in the new Australian production of the Phantom of the Opera touring throughout Australia and New Zealand in 2007-2008."
But as there's no info on that yet, i'm gonna have to just go for Melbourne for fear of not getting to see the show at all! And there's no way i'm missing it!!!! NO BLOOMIN' WAY!

I always understood that Phantom would tour nationally, but perhaps there won't be an official tour announcement until it's seen how the show goes in Melbourne. At any rate it obviously signals the end of the OA G&S cycle, at least for Anthony and hopefully for David, too, it's high time he got back to singing REAL opera!!

I thought it was stated somewhere that POTO would tour around Australia and NZ. I'm not sure though.
I agree it's time for a break for them both. Not that I dislike G&S, but they have been doing G&S for three years. It's a bit too much.
And I hope Anthony would do some more musicals after Phantom.

I've had to fight my way here page by page - kept getting "busy server" messages, (which is something I'd never struck before, except on booking websites) anything to do with pre-sales? Surely not! Anyway, today's Australian has an article about Anthony and the new production, so here's the link ~ www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,20867,21260971-5006785,00.html (Now I'm fighting to post!!)

Oh my, he accepted the role for his daughter!...How fatherly!

By the way, messages from Anthony's yahoo group said there's an two-page long interview with Anthony in Saturday February 17 Herald Sun with pictures, and a interview on 774 ABC this afternoon too. Has anyone here caught it? I'm interested in what he said and would be grateful if by any chance someone could scan the newspaper.

Thanks (blush) it was my pleasure, I'm glad you were able to enjoy it, even overseas. The ABC streams just about all its programmes on the internet now, and many are available to listen to again (and record) particularly on ABC FM - which will probably be broadcasting Pirates quite soon, at least that was their plan last year.

Touring all around Australia ... but Adelaide. For those who haven't heard my little grievance yet, there's no backers for it to play in Adelaide ((according to the people at BASS)). Boo mate. Just boo.
*ahem*
Anyway, there's a SLIM possibility that I could save enough money to go to Melbourne next year to see it. SLIM SLIM SLIM SLIM.
