Windbelle - don't care what you say - you are a guru. Thanks heaps for making this available. I was thinking about the comment you made regarding the video clips. I do have quite a few that were featured in the story but some are pretty bad quality as I never had good television reception - just an old bunny ear aerial. However, they still are watchable. Anyway it got me thinking that I now have a machine to transfer video tape to DVD. Are there people on this list interested in pooling resources and making a complilation DVD for all members to share? We have waited many years so I do not think Anthony would ever make an official DVD. Maybe we should start another thread for this but I would love to know what video clips others have and see if we can compile an extensive list. Also on the Phantom, there was an article in The Age on the legend behind the icon of the mask. There is no reference to Anthony in the article but at the beginning, there is a photo from the original 1990 production of Anthony wearing the mask. www.theage.com.au/news/arts/return-of-the-thin-white-spook/2007/07/12/1183833684471.html

I also have a few video clips. (I've actually posted some clips in the V.I.P. board. Don't know if you got the password or not. If not, just pm Marie or Neh or me.) I have Being Alive and Without A Song which appear in this interview. They are collected in a DVD which was sent to me by a friend. It's also transferred from video tape and the quality is not good either. Some pictures are rather dirty and blurred. I'll check it later to see what I've got. I don't know how to make compilation DVDs yet, but there should be some softwares to do it, I think. However the problem might be the fact I live across an ocean from Australia. The snail mail would cost some time and money. Just contact me by email or PM if there's any need.

See, this is one of the reasons why I want this forum to become more than a little fan forum; I would love to have the authority to gather good quality footage and compile it. Sadly I cannot contribute - the only thing I've done concerning footage is get the station to show that recent story online - but I too would love to see a compiled DVD; my morality cries for it to be legal and if this were a business it could probably be so.
In the years to come, maybe

I would love to see a collection of vids on dvd also - what fan wouldn't?! - and it's such a darn lovely idea but the logisitics and costs of it would be an issue, for sure *gee, Renee, say SOMETHING worthwhile!* But i love you all, all you delightful wonderful dedicated fans! HUGS TO ALL!!!!

I also would dearly love a DVD of his vids, but sadly don't have much to contribute - I only have his comercially released DVD's - but if they are any help please just ask me, I'd be happy to contribute!

Hello all -
Interesting Front Page article in today's Inside Entertainment supplement of the Herald Sun: "Just as Michael Crawford brought his own interpretive powers to the role, so did Warlow, who was asked to reprise the role in both London and Broadway. Family commitkments prevented the move. He is open to this long-running tour of Australia and New Zealand because it will take him to different cities and climates and his daughter is old enough to understand"
Assuming that this is accurate reporting (it is the Herald Sun...), it sounds like Anthony will be performing not just throughout the Australian season, but also through teh tour of New Zealand as well.
Good news indeed for those who weren't able to pick up opening night tickets...

Hi there
Sorry it has taken so long but I did go to the first preview night of Phantom last Thursday and boy - if you can possibly get there, you gotta see it - or more to the point - hear it as it is in the voice that Anthony's strength really shines.
The staging of the Phantom is exactly as before - great sets and fantastic costumes and the intimacy and look of the Princess Theatre that matches the production perfectly. Only thing was I had forgotton how close the seats are together and there is no leg room what so ever.
Anthony's acting has matured so much since he first played this role and he has natural grace of movement. The hand gestures are very precise and sometimes I thought boarded on the melodramatic but it was still an excellent performance.
But like I said, it is the voice which is his strength. So much passion and pain. I really love it when he really opens up those vocal chords. Gilbert and Sullivan the past few years have been fun but don't have the opportunity for power vocals like this has. Highlights of course were MOTN but I also loved Wandering Child, Point of No Return and the end.
I really enjoyed Ana Marina as well as thought that the duets with Anthony were great and their voices blended better than Marina Prior in the original production.
There were a few understudies in for Raoul, Carlotta and Andre but all did a sterling job and I thought the ensemble cast were very good. Apparently, many of the cast are from the cast that have been recently touring Asia so they were very assured in their roles and the production.
One thing that really surprised me was in the curtain calls after the show (with standing ovation), Anthony was quite emotional and seemed relieved to be getting the response he did. Usually he is just smiley and jovial but there was a definite emotial response I had not seen before.
The programme has some good photos though most of the photos were taken from the Shanghai production. I supposed they were easy to use as both Ana Marina and John Bowles (Raoul) played the same roles. There are a couple of blurry photos of the Phantom which you cannot identify the person but then there are three good photos of Anthony in costume.
The cast photo of Anthony is the same that he has used on the cover of Face the Music and numerous other programmes. If you want one, you can order them online from the Playbill website. Link is in this forum.
Funny thing to note is that at interval, ladies near me were confused if the Phantom was Anthony as he look so different from his real photo. (Honestly, haven't people heard of wigs and make-up). Yet at the end with the Phantom unmasking and unwigging, he is actually more recognisable to his real self. You just got to ignore the gruesome scars.
Rumors are rife that this may be a longer run than originally forecast. Ticketek only has tickets on sale to November but another site which has ticketing packages, Showbiz, is selling into January 2008. I have tickets for another two performances later in the year so I hope Anthony continues to perform it over Dec -Jan cause I know what I want for Christmas.
Apparently people are trying to petition to get a recording of this which is a must. Anthony's vocal performance should be shared with everyone.
Like the signs outside the Princess Theatre say - Anthony Warlow is the Phantom.
Video Alert - The have just announced at the end of the show that tomorrow night there will be a special interview with Anthony Warlow: A Current Affair Tuesday 24th July 2007 - 6.30 pm Channel Nine
If we are lucky, they may put the video clip up on the ninemsn website after airing on TV.

((I just modified your post so it's all in one))
As I said on Yahoo!, thanks for the head's up! The news in S.A. just announced that a few minutes ago. ACA do tend to put their vids up more often so international fans won't have to wait long

Oh, great! They must put this video up on webite. THEY MUST! Then I can try again to catch it. God, it's as if I could feel the opening night nerve now. Guess all these expectations have put special pressures on Anthony.

Thanks for the review scuffa, glad you enjoyed it so much! I agree about the cast recording... they simply MUST DO ONE!!! Anyone know who we can write/email about it? The more people that request it the better... who knows the powers that be, may just be moved enough to grant our wish.

I remember last time PotO was performed there was a petition to get a cast recording but it didn't get anywhere. Hopefully this time they will remember the outcry from last time and get in the studio! Buff

Channel 9 went on the blitz here; waited until 7:30 for the news on channel 5 ((that's the local Win 9 network for people up this way who can't get the normal stations [odd, I know, but apparently true])). Not much new in the way of news, saw a bit more footage of Phantom of the Opera first time around, replayed footage from the Sunday report, plus a really short interview. When they recapped briefly over footage of him singing Don't Get Around Much Anymore mum pointed out to me: "That's him! That's him when he was younger! He was so beautiful." Awe, bless

Yeh, that was really all that was on ACA anyways. But it was still great to see him on the tele, all handsome brilliantness! Thanks muchly to scuffa for the heads up and for the preview report - very jealous i am!!! And i agree with everyone that a recording would be lovely seeing as they cheated us out of one last time, the bastards!

I agree, the interview was very short but it is great to see Anthony looking so well. Channel Nine have been quick and the interview is already viewable on the web - though only in a small screen. aca.ninemsn.com.au/Windbelle - are you able to do your magic trick like you did for the Sunday video. We all would be grateful. Enjoy.

While you're there you might want to look over the Renovation Rescue report for the Sydney Opera House for those interested ...
Question: Why is Australia most represented by the opera house, the bridge and kangaroos whenever we're mentioned in American films?
((You don't have to answer that, that's me being random))

But the footage of the title song is beautiful. Oh I wish it'd be longer.

Belle, i love ya, i love ya, i love ya - and i love you too scuffa, and i love everybody!
Mar, i really couldn't say why we get those same iconic representations.... perhaps coz film-makers are afraid to show the REAL Australia, hehe!

Yes, as is the boomerang - according to Survivor - "Australia's favourite weapon". Reckon we could knock out Howard and Bush in one throw? XD ((to those who support Bush or Howard, I'm entitled to my opinion))
EDIT: Oh yeah, I almost forgot: Thanks for the upload windbelle!!

Mar if we could just get those two to stand back to back, we just might score that double hit. But then again... little Johnny is usually running behind George W so we'd probably miss him!
But I do like the way you think, girl!!!

YES!! COME TO THE DARK SIDE, WE HAVE COOKIES!!
*coughididn'tsaythatcough*
I wish I had the footage of when Howard tripped over. I saw it on the news, yes, but it's just so funny I wish I could share it. So long as he doesn't become the Phantom of the Government I'll be happy to help with his removal all together ((can you imagine the manic Phantom laughter he'll have? I shudder at the mere thought of it))
