last I heard it was scheduled to open in November, possibly with John Barrowman as the phantom (sourced from wiki, so I dont know how accurate that part is). I'm in two minds about this sequel that ALW wants to run. On the one hand, I'm curious to see how he presents the story, and on the other ... it sounds like such a departure in theme? style? characterisation? from the original stage show that it's almost like a bad fanfic. And the thought of Gerard Butler reprising the Phantom role ... maybe if the music is written to his strengths, it could be bearable.
